😠 The Little Annoyances Of Everyday Life (Part 1)

Ooh, the C_S tribe are going to Croatia in the summer. Dubrovnik so I have been instructed.

What’s Croatia like (after having a piss)?

Waiting a week to find out about whether I am successful at interview.
The bloody volcano in Bali closing the airport a week before you go.

oo, how long are you going to Bali for? Where are you staying?

It’s not in the EU.

Dubrovnik is fucking lovely. Went there three years ago and absolutely loved it. When you walk the city walls (and that’s a when and not an if by the way), make sure you do it late afternoon, as the temperature will fall somewhat. Don’t even think about doing it in the middle of the day.

The old city is stunning; it’s the kind of place you can just wander round for ages, always finding little alleyways that you hadn’t spotted before. Plenty of good places to eat, and the local beer (Ozujsko) is excellent. I’d also suggest spending a couple of days on the uninhabited island a little to the south of the old city.

No annoyances in this post yet, so I’d better add one. The constant flow of cruise ship-borne tourists who descend on Dubrovnik. We stayed in an apartment overlooking the cruise ship harbour (in Gruz), and saw them dock in the morning, disgorge their human cargo into coaches, then fuck off again in the evening. What sort of way is that to see a city so beautiful and steeped in history?

I didn’t get into a coach…I walked a route way above the old town to look down on it and take pictures…a hot walk last September but worth it.

I am absofuckingloutely looking forward to going there now chaps. Thanks for bigging it up!

I now know who to blame if it turns out to be a shit put

:lou_wink:

You are right. The fact that they use the Euro on a unilateral basis threw me.

Echo everything said here. One tip for dodging cruise ships in Dubrovnik. The ports authority list on their website what ships are com8ng in and how many passengers are turning up rating them red amber and green days. It really makes a difference.

PoŔip - good crisp white wine
Plavic Mali is the local red - Stina from Brac is a good producer and Dingac region is also good

Calamari is awesome, as is the fish.

Oops.
Hope you have good Insurance.
Rebookig long haul flights around those dates not easy at moment with so many school systems breaking up and families flying home across this part of world

Looks to be improving. Short haul flights will be more likely alternative routes than long haul if you try and find alternates. Air Asia or Singapore for example.
Don’t forget the dollar bills for visa on arrival!

We’re going to Indonesia at the end of August. You’ll have to tell us how you get on. I’ll check with Mrs BS to find out where, precisely, we’re going - not Bali, I know that and our holiday does involve a trip to Borneo where we intend to climb a… um… volcano!

We have a flight to Singapore (singapore airlines) then change. So we could head there and maybe go somewhere else in the region. Even see my friend who lives there. One hotel has been paid for already, one we can cancel up to Tuesday. The other we would get half the money back. Partner is checking our policy.
I was so looking forward to this. But it’s just a holiday so not the end of the world. But likely to lose some cash.

When you leave a vespa in the sideway of your parents house for 20 years. Haven’t use it ever, forgot to pay tax or got it SORN in all those years. Oppssssy. Fine time…

That might be OK. Denpasar is apparently open, Emirates flights are back on schedule to there. The airlines will have processes EK allows rebooking so Singapore may have something similar. Probably come down to which way the wind is blowing.

Emirates’ flights to and from Bali, Indonesia on 29th June have been delayed due volcanic ash emission activity at Mount Agung.

Customers booked to travel to/from DPS (Bali) can opt to change their flights and postpone their departure up to 7 days later than originally booked and are requested to contact their travel agent or booking office to make changes to their bookings.

Customers are also advised to check the status of their flights on www.emirates.com/flightstatus and update their contact details online on www.emirates.com/MYB in order to receive the most current information on their flights.

The situation is being closely monitored. We apologize for any inconvenience. The safety of our crew and passengers are our top priority.

Singapore have said we can cancel up to a few hours before checkin and get most of the money back. The issue is we’d lose the cost of hotels and wouldn’t get back from insurance as it would be our choice to cancel. We are going to just see what happens.

plenty of other Islands you can get to from Singapore are worth it though stick with the plan is always best in these cases

Yeah, partner messaged me saying it was off again. All we can do is wait and see if they cancel flights to Bali but we have decided our back up is get flight to Singapore and then maybe stay a bit, catch up with a friend and head Malaysia way.
