šŸ“° The latest news!

Dean Saunders has been jailed for 10 weeks after refusing to provide a roadside breath test. He was stopped by police on the way back from Chester races on suspicion of drink driving, police said he was slurring his speech and had to prop himself up against his Audi when he was asked to get out of the car. Saunders claimed he had drunk two pints and suggested to the court that this may have interacted with his inhaler for his asthma! lol.

Large number of police checking cars outside Stansted airport plus we saw a man arrested and lots of his items bagged up whilst in departures.

So following on from some other posts about social work…

I am not sure about us being included. Although I do think we should have a bit more protection.
I’ve never had someone threaten me. I have had some shouting. But we work in an area where people don’t like us because at times we do have to remove children.

Not knowing much about the cost of student housing, I wonder how much the rent compares to private landlord or uni halls.

The upside is that they will be better maintained that most private landlord Places which have carved up houses in to Christ knows how many rooms

This was 1994, but my student halls were cold, over-priced and shite.

I wangled my way out of them in January 1995 with the line ā€œLook, I’ve already lived on my own. I’ve already done character building. I want outā€.

Moved into a shared house where the rent was £20 a week as opposed to about £40.

There is hope in these places.

Potentially a €55bn fraud?
Jeez

Another Car carrier goes tits up.

They say they don’t yet know why it overturned ?
I can tell them.
Car carriers are extremely high in the water think of the Mary Rose.
Incorrectly loaded or loads not tied down correctly so if they shift during maneuvering of the vessel it has a tendency to roll over as these vessels do not have ballast tanks like standard oil tankers do to keep them sat at the correct depth in the water.

They’re all strapped to the decks with nylon restraints like this…one on each corner…

Heavy seas and once one brakes loose, more will follow. It’s not a popular job to fit the restraints…alway the casuals who do it.

Note, the like was for @PhilippineSaint’s tale of maritime capsize mechanics, not for the notion of a car ship flipping.

Yaxley-Lennon released from prison today after serving nine weeks of a nine month sentence. How does that work?

I reckon our insurance would pay out on this.

It could have been worse. He could have brought back a dose of the galloping clap

Time served beforehand?

May have to agree with barry on this. He served time the first time he was sentenced for this. Think it may have been a few months until the appeal etc. So maybe that?

I’m fucking honoured…
