Can’t help thinmking that fate is getting tempted here.

Go on a submersible, called the Titan, to ā€œseeā€ the Titanic at a quarter million pounds a head. They had to be bolted in, the craft controlled by what looks like a Playstation controller and people are now asking whether the craft was safe enough.

Hope they get found alive.

Coincidentally, Kursk was shown on TV last week. The film of the Russian sub they didn’t get to in time in 2000.

So they are getting close to the end of air

So even if they find them now, they have to attach the winch and haul them up 4kms and then unbolt the nose cone before they can get air in

Not good

BREAKINGDebris field found - US Coast Guard

A debris field has been discovered within the search area by an ROV near the Titanic, the US Coast Guard has just announced.

Experts within the unified command are evaluating the information.

We will bring you more details shortly.

This is incredibly sad.

Didn’t know the family but the kid apparently went to the local ACS private school just down the road. Lots of ex-pat neighbours send their kids there.

In other news, they have identified that dick head who carved his name in the colosseum in Rome

Some Bulgarian fitness instructor living in Bristol- the Italians are on the warpath

Conveniently forgetting that the USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme) is also a major shareholder with a smidgen under 20% stake in Thames Water.

Gonna fuck up their announced plan to reinstate final salary benefits removed because their investments were doing so badly because of the economy up until very recently.

There’ll be a lot of unhappy teachers if TW go bust and their pensions go up the Swanee- But the Tories don’t care about them leftie university lecturers and other key staff, eh?

They can’t complain - they have had 20% of the dividends

That can only blame their fund managers for getting them into that mess

Absolutely

Mrs C_S is not laughing as that’s where most of her pension is. Unfortunately.

Actually they haven’t. Macquarie got in first, filled their boots and then passed on the debt infested turd to the pension companies

I would still kill the fund managers

Yeah, but working in a rigged market where even they aren’t in on the background shenanigans - they are largely just investing in the shares which on balance have recently been giving great dividends (along with much of the markets invested in by institutional shareholders)

Their problem is that Macquarie have the really good fund managers (I just placed a chef on one of the board’s Superyacht) so they spot the bargains

The journeyman fund managers end up in the public sector funds and they basically read the tips in the Sunday times

You’re probably not too far from the truth about smaller investment advisors, but the bigger and better players undertake more due diligence -

My company (not the bit I lead btw - luckily probably) deal with pensions / investment advice for a significant part of the UK DB sector in the ftse 250 and get it right 9.9 times out of ten.

Easy to make generalisations, which people believe to be the truth and share with everyone they know - even if not 100% accurate- snowball effect and all that.

It’s revealed today that two thirds of Britain’s biggest water companies employ key executives who had previously worked at Ofwat, the watchdog tasked with regulating them. There is a revolving door between the regulator and the industry. Despite the apologists for this conservative government on here, and indeed everywhere, lets call this out for what it is. It’s corruption, pure and simple, and the water industry is just the tip of the iceberg. Many just choose to ignore all the evidence because they don’t want to countenance the hard truth, but Roberto Saviano was speaking the truth about the status of our country, and he should know, he’s an acknowledged expert on organized crime.

Here we go, it seems that the darn forriners also believe in fake news

I’m starting to think the ā€˜uman race deserves all it gets.

But hey, if you can find news that fits what you think about the world and people without thinking about the subject and why you’re posting is fine, right?
