📰 The latest news!

I was nagged by all and sundry for years about getting my bus pass.
After nearly ten years I gave in and got one - seemed a good idea.
In the following two years I have used it once.

Never used them from the time I left school to landing here.
Now I use them all the time. Proper public transport network does help.
Easiest way into town for me.
I get my pass next year so still have to pay ÂŁ1.60ew to get to town Vs ÂŁ4.50 to park for an hour
Takes about 5 minutes longer than a taxi from home and that costs ÂŁ15 into town

But you live in Poland - my memories of Krakow some 8 years ago was how good (and cheap) the tram system in this city was, and how few cars there were in the city centre, so I suspect once you have your old persons bus pass you will use it a lot!

Yeah, amazing what can be achieved when you see things like Public Transport as a service, not a cost to be reduced

Meanwhile 20 extreme right-wing Republicans are holding the House to ransom by refusing to back McCarthy as Speaker. Three votes down, another 131 to beat the record.

Sounds very lucky not to be going in the :skull: :coffin: thread.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Eight votes down now and the hardliners are controlling the situation, demanding an alternative right-wing candidate. Unlikely that will happen as their proposed agenda is too extreme for most Republicans, and McCarthy won’t stand down.

Looks like the only way the wreckers can be forced to back McCarthy is if a dozen Republicans threaten to vote for the Democrat if they don’t. And if that actually happened you’d have a Democrat leading the Republican House.

He’s done himself no favours has he.

I wonder where his advisors were when the book was being ghost-written and being proofed?

Back at their employers- the publisher

Go for it Harry, that’s a great idea :money_with_wings: :dollar:

Actually it’s a bit sad - he is obviously a damaged soul with a lot of pent up anger, grief and insecurities - but he really hasn’t read the room / or got some god awful advice. Probably some Hollywood PR who said your truth matters

BBC News - Elon Musk’s drop in fortunes breaks world record

Poor sod having to scrape by in only 158 billion

And I thought I’d made some bad online calls

Never understood it. Twitter was never able to consistently turn a profit, riven with internal politics. When he offered that dough, I bet there was a queue to bite his fucking hands off.

Argos have announced the closure of all 34 of their Irish stores.

Luckily I don’t use them- phew…

Well I thought it interesting. Argos is a pretty strange retailer. Apart from the display stuff, they don’t have to worry about shoplifting and yet, there’s not enough business for them in Ireland to be viable.

Well apart from they used to be the green shield stamp people that you got free from the petrol station I have never understood how it was a viable business

I guess it’s the internet that’s done for them. Why go and pick up tat when you can get it delivered to your door?
