So with all the escalation of conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, I saw this headline and was drawn to the fact that the BBC make the backlash to her tweet the headline, as opposed to supporting what she is saying… Maybe its just me, but this is common way in which the media seems to want to influence folks thinking - My headline would have been, ā€˜ā€˜Arseholes who seem hell bent on continuing this conflict give abuse to Gal Gadot over peace tweet’’

Does David Cameron still receive public money?

Since 1991, former prime ministers who are ā€œstill active in public lifeā€ have been entitled to an annual payment called a Public Duty Costs Allowance. They are allowed to claim up to Ā£115,000 of public money every year for ā€œnecessary office and secretarial costs arising from fulfilling public dutiesā€.

In the 2019-20 financial year, David Cameron claimed £111,457, less than his predecessors Sir John Major, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

How the fuck are we still paying for these wankers - John major??? Tony Blair??? Gordon fucking Brown???

A story.

The problem with the tweet, and the coverage in general, is the lack of context. It all begins with Hamas firing rockets, not with the forced evacuation of people from their homes, which is what has actually been happening since 1947.

It certainly wouldn’t do any harm if all of us were reminded of how this all started.
When I was in Sharjah/Dubai in the late 70s early 80s, I came across a book titled ā€œThe Palestiniansā€ by Jonathan Dimbleby, who has written a few books on bits of history.
The book tells the early story of the ā€œPalestinianā€ problem with pictures and quotes, and is a real eye opener.
The whole of the first Israeli cabinet were, the previous year, all on our governments ā€œmost wantedā€ list, for crimes which today we would call crimes against humanity.
When I returned to UK, I lent the book to someone, and never got it back.
Years later I tried to get a copy, following an argument with someone about the Palestinians, but found it (strangely?) unobtainable in this country; conspiracy theories start here.
I did manage to get a couple of copies from USA ex Libra, one is lent out (must get it back), and I have the other.
If anyone is interested in reading this, I am more than happy to loan it out - send an address and I’ll get round to posting it off to you, and you can post it back or pass to another interested party.
What the Zionist ā€œterroristsā€ did to the Palestinians will shock you, and you will then have an understanding of how the problem started, and why it will never end.

The book that I’d recommend is Alison Weir’s Against Our Better Judgement. It’s a short book, and more than 50% of the content is footnotes, putting substance on the claims made in the book proper. It works in the book’s favour.

The Americans, by and large, don’t really know what is going on there. Jewish kids in America are sold the idea that Palestine was empty before they arrived, something Seth Rogen spoke about recently on a podcast.

A former boss of mine, someone I very much respect, is a religious American and she was whacking out ā€œPray for Israelā€ bollocks the other day.
