Middlesbrough’s former England winger Stewart Downing will be allowed to leave the club on loan this month.
But where will he go?
The Northern Echo reports that Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign the 32-year-old who is keen to remain in the Premier League.
The paper says Palace manager Sam Allardyce - who managed Downing at West Ham - is keen to push through a deal before the weekend.
It also claims Championship club Newcastle have expressed an interest in Downing.
We’ve had a £34 million pound bid for Sigurdsson from Swansea rejected apparently.

Hmmm… I can’t say I know much about him but this rumour hasn’t gone away since I first heard it about two weeks ago. Not only do we need a CF but we could do with injecting some fresh blood in to the squad to give the rest a boost (or kick up the ass if necessary).
I also read that Stoke have gone in for Berahino again. Surely WBA will just cut their losses at this stage - he has 6 months left on his contract, has a shit attitude and is apparently a fat fuck by all accounts. So WBA will more than likely be after a new striker.
Therefore perhaps this rumour has substance on both fronts.
