⚽ 🔃 The January 2023 Transfer Thread

OMG. I don’t even think he is deflecting. We are going to persist in hoping Adams scores us enough goals.

Gulp.

Here come the reinforcements, charging over the hill to our rescue. :expressionless:

This👇

FML, we actually REQUESTED him coming back? Jesus fucking Christ, this will really help getting the fans onside won’t it. Nathan Jones, you are an absolute weapon.

Whichever way you look at this, it is such a shit decision. From the outside looking in it says to me the club has thrown the towel in and accepted relegation so aren’t prepared to spend even a loan fee on another centre back when we have one out on loan.

Completely ignores all the factors below. Plus his attitude and commitment is demonstrably terrible after requesting not to play in the cup quarter final last season because he had a Poland game coming up.

Considering we plucked him out of obscurity in the first place and Ralph gave him his opportunity, he doesn’t deserve another chance in my opinion.

Jan, just get in the bin.

You’re all missing the point of recalling him, which is why shouldn’t he suffer with the rest of us? :sunglasses:

To be fair, when you think about it, the more sensible folk are aggrieved at the fact that we presumably (it would certainly make sense to do so) target our preferred choices in order and regardless of whether they rate the particular individual or not based on stats or whatever (let’s face it, few have seen these targets play), what it says is that the club are failing to land their top targets. So it stands to reason that we are going to have to settle for somebody who the club ultimately deemed less desirable, or nobody at all, as was the case in the summer and so far in January.

Moffi :x:
Danjuma (apparently we were in for him) :x:
Jackson :x:
Who next?

This particular instance is quite embarrassing considering it has been going on for a couple of weeks yet they failed to close the deal. Presumably negotiating/haggling the fee or payment terms. Meanwhile, Bournemouth (a smaller club - fact) have swooped in decisively after seemingly missing out on their preferred target, Danjuma. Who incidentally went to Everton, another relegation rival.

There’s no point pretending we aren’t desperate because the situation is crystal clear. So the club are going to have to accept they won’t be getting a summer bargain. The same goes for this Danish midfielder. The club will have to pay over the odds or take a massive gamble and go with what we’ve already got. A terrifying thought.

Don’t forget, another relegation rival signed a £40m forward before the window even opened (Wolves) whereas Saints are still taking their sweet time. The longer it goes on, it means that the new recruits are missing vital games and training sessions to get them up to speed. Just look at Orsic. He still hasn’t started a game and we signed him on 6th Jan.

So I can sympathise with the sentiment on Twitter to an extent.
