Yep…with a random selection of team players nobody will support an advertising franchise just because they play at The Rose Bowl…or whatever it’s called.
I always have liked Matthew Engel, and that piece is brilliant.
I’ve just watched (on TV) my first experience of this abomination of a game.
Pointless changes in format (10 balls), ridiculous and fairly indecipherable graphics in gaudy colours all over the screen. Random groups of players making up teams with stupid names representing nowhere. Utter garbage and the sooner it dies, the better.
As a very short version of the game, 20-20 is fine. The 50 over game is structured, entertaining and good. And Test cricket is still the purest form of the game.
Thank you
Until this thread appeared I was blissful in my ignorance of it.
There are some lessons.
Speed of play is faster. T20 has been getting slower & slower especially in final overs.
Not an issue for purists BUT almost an hour longer and the shorter format is just the right length of time for Grandkids to dance sing & wave lesson? Tighten T20 times & fine fielding team a player outside the circle for every 2 mins over time.
Lesson 2. Dont let woke MBA’s anywhere near cricket… no, actually the combined Mens & Women double headers. It is getting the Women’s game wider coverage/bigger audiences. That’s a good thing
Vince. Ct Crane for 6.
Oops
19-1
Vince out by two Hants colleagues. Ffs
How come The Southern Brave are so shit at this game…they must have worked extremely hard to be this bad.
Hmmm.
And yet they win by 6 wickets
See what I did there.
Best finish of all the games I’ve seen so far.
OK, I’ll say this now, I don’t mind the format and the cricket.
The Americanisation I can do without but the cricket itself has been fun to watch.
Does cricket need this extra format? probably not. Can some of it’s interventions be applied to the other formats, i.e. the cut-off time? Definitely.
I went to Lord’s for the Spirit vs Invincibles game.
I agree with some of the views about the 100 on here but I came away with a new admiration for the women’s game.
There were also a load of kids there and the ones round us appeared to be enjoying themselves.
Careful you’ll get @Lets-B-Drinking going off on one…anyway that couldn’t have been the 100, where were the POW and KAPAM graphics when he got hit in the nads?
BTW I notice that Southern Brave Men are now 3rd in the table (out of 8), whilst the Women are top
Hope he had the drugs to kill the pain.
Enjoyed watching Brad Wheal last night. Good bowling from one of our own.
Just a shame we have 6 players missing from our One Day Cup games…
