End of the season for me - the powers that be need to go hard on players that surround/harass the referee.
They can make a statement here, and suggest anyone (or any team) harassing officials will be subject to straight red.

They’ve got this spot on in the rugby, where no player is allowed to approach the ref except via the team captain.

Absolutely right, no one apart from the captain is allowed to speak with the ref, and when they do they always call him “Sir”. I remember when Roy Keane let it slip that Alex Ferguson had the Man U players practicing surrounding the referee in training to try and overturn decisions that went against them. I think it’s fair enough that if a player lays his hands on the referee, screaming into his face as Mitrovic did he should get a lengthy ban. This needs to be nipped in the bud. We all like to have a go at referees but perhaps we should remember that players, ie strikers on 300 grand a week can miss open goals regularly but when a referee who is on a fraction of that makes one mistake he is crucified. It’s not right.

Is not just what Mitrovic did, it’s s the affect that this has on the lower leagues, people (kids) see players get away with it time and time again on TV and think they can do it in their leagues.

Yep, you only have to watch kids football and watch them stick their arm up when taking a corner or doing the old spectacles, testicles wallet and watch when the come on as a rolling sub to see that everything the EPL players do is copied

Sorry to read of the death of Tony Knapp - saints footballer from the late sixties.
My most memorable moment is him scoring an own goal in the first minute - Saints v Wolves.
Saints went on to win 9:3!
