Is that a chip on your shoulder?

Where did I say there is anything wrong with any of those?

Apart from the Edinburgh Wool Mill, I’m single handledly keeping most of those food and caffeine outlets going.

There is Brexit.

Then there is Cabanos

and Zolonchka Polonkcha

@Polski_Filip what should the govt do to help out badly run high street retailers? Firstly, some high street retailers are well run and profitable. Second, no one ever forced the likes of HoF to sell mostly commoditised products from lots of large, dull stores. The internet is not new! Why on earth did they not react years ago? Even their own website is shit. Third, yes business rates are not cheap, but HoF had a rent bill of £100m per year, plus huge staffing and running costs for all its stores. Even if rates were free, it would make a tiny difference. Lastly, why just retailers? Plenty of other types of businesses that sell to or serve the public face changing markets and more competition.

The old adage is very true: any idiot can run a company when things are going well. It takes skill to run a company when things are difficult.

CVA plan for Homebase just approved, apparently by over 95% of creditors (needs 75% to go through). Fighting chance for most of the stores to survive now.
