🔎 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 The Coronavirus Contact Tracing App

Is there anything they say that isn’t contested? Ever?

Not a tracker though, just a log / to allow an app to run in future etc

Will I get it on my slider phone?

Yeah, this is the operating system component I mentioned in my screed above.

It would talk to a tracking and tracing app and does all the Bluetooth detection of proximity to others using another Corona app.

Without the app it’s useless and without being turned on it does nothing.

Probably.

What is surprising about it is that the update appeared without a firmware upgrade. It’s just a Google service (software) on my phone.

…and without your permission.

That’s certainly what the message tells you, on the bit of spyware they put on your phone without telling you.

This was mentioned to me on a WhatsApp group, I assumed it was a joke or someone being paranoid. Was genuinely shocked to actually find it on mine and the bird’s phones, and my spare one. I’m surprised everyone seems quite so relaxed about it.

…cue “if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear…”

The stock response is that Google an Apple already know everything about you already.

I share your surprise that it was able to appear without me specifically requesting it.

Like I say though…without an app or being turned on then it isn’t doing anything.

Probably.

Phew, that’s alright then. I was worried for a minute.

Predictably blaming others here.

Look towards the top of this thread and you’ll probably find a prediction that it was doomed to failure.
