China issued rules last month on acquisitions abroad, following a fierce campaign since the end of last year against what Beijing calls “irrational” investments that has targeted sectors including property, entertainment and sport.
There are no rules that says two mates can’t buy a plaything off of each other for no concern of what the fans of the club think, they’ll be fine don’t worry guys…
“Southampton are ready to end Theo Walcott’s Arsenal misery,” trumpets the Express in a back-page exclusive, “and take him back to the club where he began his career.” The Gunners, they report, are preparing “a January clear-out” to “bring in funds” in the laughably optimistic belief that Arsène Wenger might be about to “reshape his side”, while the Saints “are looking to boost their firepower”, all of which creates a perfect storm of emotional-homecoming-shaped proportions. If there’s going to be any competition it might come from Internazionale, with Everton and West Ham also “admirers”. “Walcott has admitted he still has a soft spot for the club,” they conclude of Southampton, “who would look to pay about £12- £15m to bring him back to St Mary’s.”
Can’t find the takeover thread - there is an article in the Athletic today about potential takeovers saying that Gao needs to sell sooner rather than later, potentially before the end of the year.
Not much that we didn’t already know:
Numerous parties have been interested and then walked away due to Covid or Super League
Katarina Liebherr is the one who is actively trying to find the new owner as there was a clause in Gao’s takeover that gave her veto power over who he sells his stake on to
Gao would need to be happy with the price and wants as much of his £180m back as possible, shockingly…
Assume something must be in the offing for them to bother publishing it given this stuff was all true 3 months ago
