đŸ„Š The Boxing Thread

I watch a lot of boxing YouTube videos. Consequently I have seen more than my fair share of AJ interviews. The impression I get is that he’s thick as mince.

He has benefited from very good management and a string of contests that looked good in the day but look somewhat less impressive now.

He went life or death with Chinnian Whyte. Fury never looked uncomfortable during his bout with Whyte and chinned him when he got bored.

The post fight antics were mortifying. AJ is at rock bottom and it may well suit him. A lot of pundits are saying that there is no pressure anymore and he can get some “learning fights” in.

Thar last part is AJ in a nutshell. Two time unified heavyweight champion of the world. Made several successful defences. He shouldn’t need learning fights, but he does.

Had a look at some of the fights from the KSI card last night.

Whatever you think of boxing YouTubers, you also have to say fair play. Sold out the O2 and probably didn’t have to pay much for the talent.

I enjoyed all three of these for different reasons.

Ol’ Brick Top must be happy as Larry at the moment. The WBO interim title has been added to the Joyce vs Parker fight, meaning a fast track to a title bout for the winner.

With his firm repping Tyson, he could have control over the heavyweight division. Champion and challenger. Good for a few quid, I reckon.

Ah, the perils of using words you don’t know the meaning of to look clever

I’m sure I had a Great Aunt called Joyce Parker.

Interesting bout nonetheless. I’ve only seen the merest highlights and look forward to the full fight being on YouTube.

I am not really a fan of either boxer, but most had Parker down as a serious test for Joyce and tipped him to win. I wonder what odds you’d have gotten on Parker getting stopped.

Never been stopped before.

It’s not pantomime season yet is it?

Fury is the greatest

bullshitter boxing has ever known. Don’t know what the fuck he’s playing at.

And here we go again

So the Crackie Benn vs Chris Nobank Jr has been postponed.

It has been said elsewhere, but it was a bit of stupid fight to begin with, both men having to move weight in either direction and would not be fighting each other in the normal course of things. Pure hype from the start based on bollock origin.

Benn and Hearn come out of this looking the worst, but it was disappointing to see Nobank Jr agree to fight regardless. Ultimately, it was the decision of the British Boxing Board of Control to withdraw sanctioning that piled the pressure on.

Amaszingly, the fight still could have gone ahead. Eddie and pals could have used some nomark sanctioning body from overseas. In the end, I think they saw the size of the coming storm and chickened out. They withdrew out of a sense of self-preservation, not principle.

Eddie Hearn and principles are not words that should be used in the same paragraph :smile::smile:

Which is fair enough if you don’t bleat on about having them.

He does.

Tbf to Eddie Hearn he talks so much shit he has probably forgotten he has said most of it.

My recent favourite is

This’ll do one million [ppv] buys
