Premier League 2016/17 table: Super Computer predicts end of season final places *November update*

Show/hide article…

With ten games played in the Premier League, we are more than a quarter of the way through the season and there is no better time to check out the Super Computer.

Manchester City’s win at West Brom means Pep Guardiola’s side lead the way on goal difference, just ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool in second and third respectively.

Manchester United, without a win in their last four games, have faltered recently under Jose Mourinho, while David Moyes’ Sunderland look doomed.

So, how will the Premier League table look after 38 games?

At this stage, no one can say with any certainty, but the Super Computer has had a good go of predicting the final standings.

Based on information available on November 1 2016, take a look at how the Super Computer is predicting the 2016/17 Premier League table to finish, by clicking the right arrow, above.

The table, of course, should be taken with a pinch of salt! Anything can happen over the next eight months, but it’s fun to speculate!

Where do you think your team will finish? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below…

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard tops ’ Power Rankings

Show/hide article…

The 25-year-old weaved through the Southampton defence to open the scoring at St Mary’s on Sunday and also assisted Diego Costa (No 3, up 10 places) during the Blues’ 2-0 win.

Team-mates Marcus Alonso (No 8, up one place) and Thibaut Courtois (No 9, up nine places) also made the top 10 after recording Antonio Conte’s fourth league clean sheet on the bounce.

Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho (No 2, up one place) continued his scintillating form, crafting three goals during the Reds’ 4-2 win at Crystal Palace, with goalscorer Roberto Firmino rising 11 places to No 6.

Last week’s chart-topper Xherdan Shaqiri slipped six places to No 7 after the Stoke midfielder was withdrawn through injury against Swansea, while Joe Allen (No 4, no move) assisted two Wilfried Bony (No 13, up 87 places) goals to secure a 3-1 win.

Arsenal temporarily moved above Manchester City in the league after thrashing Sunderland 4-1 in the early Saturday kick-off, with Alexis Sanchez (No 5, up seven places) poaching a header and scoring a second either side of an Olivier Giroud (No 51, up 206 places) brace.

Burnley’s Tom Heaton kept Manchester United at bay on Saturday with a string of saves to salvage a point for the Clarets and rise 56 places to No 20.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero continued his sporadic league form, bouncing 116 places up the chart to No 11 after hitting a brace during City’s 4-0 win at the Hawthorns.

The Power Rankings methodology reflects a player’s performance by awarding points to players for 32 different matchday stats.

Below, we present this week’s Power Rankings and your club’s top points scorer. The Sky Sports Power Rankings will be updated every Tuesday during the season, so be sure to keep an eye on the big movers…

De Boer sacked by Inter ahead of Saints showdown

Show/hide article…

INTER Milan have sacked besieged manager Frank de Boer just 48 hours before their Europa League group stage match at Saints on Thursday.

De Boer, who only replaced Roberto Mancini at the San Siro in August, has been under enormous pressure for some time, having failed to get an expensively assembled team performing at a satisfactory level.

The Dutchman won just five of his 14 games in charge – one of those being the 1-0 home win over Saints two weeks’ ago.

He leaves Inter 12th in the Italian Serie A after their fifth defeat in 11 league games at Sampdoria on Sunday.

The 1-0 loss was the Nerazzurri’s fourth defeat in their last five Serie A matches and left them 13 points adrift of leaders Juventus.

The former Ajax boss, who was linked with the Saints job before Claude Puel was hired in the summer, also departs with the Italians bottom of Europa League Group K ahead of Thursday’s trip to St Mary’s.

Inter will now arrive in England managerless with youth team coach Stefano Vecchi taking temporary charge.

De Boer said on Twitter: "It’s a shame it ended this way. To carry out this project I needed more time.

“I want to thank the fans for all the support you gave me during these months. Forza Inter.”

A beleaguered De Boer has had to wave away speculation over his future for the last few weeks, and in his last press conference insisted that he had faith in turning Inter’s fortunes around.

“This is just an issue of mentality," he said. “We have a lot of quality but we can’t do much when we have the mentality I saw in the first half.

“We have a problem at this moment. I said to the team during the break that we had to change and it looked like another team in the second half.

"I have faith that we can change this difficult time.

“As I said, I’ve seen a good team many times, but we must have the conviction to do it for 90 minutes, as [in the wins] against Torino and Juventus. We cannot always stay in this form.”
