Next criteria confirmed for Sparta trip

Show/hide article…

Claude Puel’s men face the side from the Czech Republic on Thursday 24th November, with a 6pm GMT kick-off time. The club secured an allocation of 1,703 tickets for the match, with 750 tickets now remaining.

Tickets are priced at £17, with no concessions, with the new on-sale dates as follows:

Friday 7th October – 2016/17 Season Ticket holders who have attended at least five domestic away games from the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

Monday 10th October – 2016/17 Season Ticket holders who have attended at least four domestic away games from the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

Tuesday 11th October – 2016/17 Season Ticket holders who have attended at least three domestic away games from the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.

Please note, Southampton’s trip to Leicester City in October will not count towards the priority for this fixture.

All sale dates are subject to remaining availability. Tickets will go off sale at 8.30am each day, and then sales will resume with the new criteria at 9am.

Supporters should note that tickets will not be issued at the point of purchase and will instead have to be collected in Prague on the day of the game.

Please note, tickets will only be given to the ticket holder in person on production of photo ID. Tickets cannot be collected on behalf of friends or family members without the person being present with their own ID. Please do not attempt to collect tickets on behalf of other supporters, as this will lead to delays in fans being able to collect their tickets.

Following a visit to Sparta Praha, the club would like to provide supporters with some information regarding our allocation:

A large proportion of the seats in the Lower Tier have restrictions on the view of the pitch, due to the segregation used to the sides and at the front of the away end. Approximately 600 seats in our allocation of 1,700 are located in the Lower Tier (Blocks D91-D94).

The Lower Tier consists of 13 rows, with the first ten not covered by the roof of the stand. Should it rain, it’s highly likely that supporters in these rows will get wet.

We will be allocating tickets in the Upper Tier first, and then the Lower Tier last. Any supporters with accessibility needs attending the fixture are urged to contact the Ticket Office on 0845 688 9288 as soon as possible.

We will be receiving a small number of Wheelchair spaces, which will not be located with the rest of the visiting supporters. Fans requiring a Wheelchair space are asked to contact the Ticket Office on 0845 688 9288 to register their interest no later than 5pm on Tuesday 11th October. After this point, we will be able to advise on whether we will be able to allocate you a ticket.

We are attempting to secure more tickets for supporters requiring Wheelchair space, however due to the age and layout of the Generali Arena, this could prove difficult.

Duo help England U21s to victory

Show/hide article…

A 1-0 victory against Kazakhstan away from home assured England of top spot in Group 9 with a game still to go in their qualifying campaign.

Fellow Saints Matt Targett and Jack Stephens were not involved, with the former missing out with a slight injury and Stephens an unused substitute.

There were just six minutes on the clock when Ward-Prowse and Redmond made an impact. The former found his teammate out wide, and he crossed for Demarai Gray, who finished confidently to give Aidy Boothroyd’s side an early advantage.

Ward-Prowse then went close to doubling the lead for the visitors, but his shot sailed over, before Mason Holgate’s looped cross hit the top of the crossbar.

One goal proved to be enough for Boothroyd’s Young Lions, as they confirmed their qualification for next summer’s tournament.

Boufal delighted to be in full training

Show/hide article…

The club’s record signing has been building up his fitness and conditioning since joining from French club Lille at the end of August.

Having trained as part of the group at Staplewood Campus for the first time, the 23-year-old is now increasingly excited about what lies ahead.

“I am very, very happy to be back in training,” he said. “It’s a moment that I’ve been waiting for.

“I’ve been working really hard to get back to this point today, so it is very satisfying to get back out on the training pitch with the rest of the group.”

Boufal added: “It will take time, as this is just my first training session.

“I’ve got a fortnight now to really work with the group and the manager, and after that we will see how things are going as to when the first match will be for me.”

The Morocco international explained that he is feeling physically strong at this point.

“I feel very good,” he said. “As I say, I have worked really well with the physios and the physical trainers, and today I feel good, I feel fresh, I feel strong and I am happy to be back out on the pitch.”

Kazakhstan U21s 0 England U21s 1: Demarai Gray winner puts Young Lions through to next year’s European Championships

Show/hide article…

Demarai Gray fired England Under-21s to Euro 2017 as they sealed a 1-0 victory in Kazakhstan.

The Leicester winger scored his first goal for the Under-21s as they made light work of boss Gareth Southgate’s absence to win Group 9 with a game to spare and qualify for the tournament in Poland next summer.

Under-20 boss Aidy Boothroyd took over with Southgate in interim charge of the senior squad following Sam Allardyce’s exit after the Daily Telegraph’s investigation into corruption in football.

He handed debuts to Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman and Everton defenders Brendan Galloway and Mason Holgate in Aktobe and England made a lightening start to grab the winner after six minutes.

A snappy flowing move started with James Ward-Prowse and Ruben Loftus-Cheek swapping passes before Ward-Prowse sent Nathan Redmond scampering down the right.

Saints pair fire England to Euros

Show/hide article…

Saints duo James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond helped fire England Under-21s to Euro 2017 as they sealed a 1-0 victory in Kazakhstan.

Leicester winger Demari Gray scored his first goal for the Under-21s, set-up by great work from Ward-Prowse and Redmond, as they made light work of boss Gareth Southgate’s absence to win Group 9 with a game to spare and qualify for the tournament in Poland next summer.

A snappy flowing move started with Ward-Prowse and Ruben Loftus-Cheek swapping passes before Ward-Prowse sent Redmond scampering down the right.

The Southampton forward moved into space and crossed low for the onrushing Gray who escaped the hosts’ defence to tap in from seven yards.

It settled England and Holgate and Ward-Prowse fired off target and home goalkeeper Stanislav Pavlov comfortably claimed Loftus-Cheek’s drive.

The visitors were in control without stamping full authority on the game and Galloway had to be alert to block Alisher Suley’s drive to ensure they maintained their half-time lead.

Galloway almost doubled England’s lead after 57 minutes when his cross took a deflection and dropped wide but five minutes later they should have gone 2-0 up.

Loftus-Cheek was found in the box but with the home defence nowhere, and one-on-one with Pavlov, his poor effort was saved by the Kazakhstan goalkeeper.

Despite their chances England struggled to end the contest and Maxim Fedin fired over with 20 minutes left.

Duncan Watmore then replaced Loftus-Cheek and Gray almost wrapped up victory with 10 minutes left when his dipping drive was tipped over.

Bristol City’s on-loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham then replaced Gray to make his debut and had a header saved as the Young Lions held on to qualify.

Saints youngster Jack Stephens was an unused sub, while Matt Targett sat out as precaution after picking up a knock.

He is expected to be fit to resume duty as England host Bosnia on Tuesday at Walsall in their final game aiming to go through the group unbeaten after five wins and two draws from their seven games so far.

Tadić stars in Serbia win

Show/hide article…

Dušan Tadić starred as Serbia romped to a 3-0 away victory over Moldova in their latest FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Thursday night.

Tadić, who started the game at Stadionul Zimbru and went on to complete the full 90 minutes, provided two first-half assists as the visitors established control, before scoring himself on the hour mark in the second-half.

After Filip Kostić had opened the scoring on 19 minutes, Branislav Ivanović met Tadić’s corner to double their advantage going into the interval.

Not content with his night’s work, the Saints midfielder then played a neat one-two with Aleksandar Katai before sweeping the ball past Ilja Cebanu in the Moldova net.

The result moved Serbia up to second place in the group behind Wales, and they are in action again on Sunday 9th October (7.45pm BST) when they host Austria.
