Claim to fame, England trained here during the Euros shared by Poland & Ukraine
But would support Salisbury if I could. Used to go on the coach to away days when i was a nipper
Always had a soft spot for Winchester City. A great uncle of mine used to captain the team and was skipper when Terry Paine played for them as a lad. They kept in touch and he appears in Paine’s biography.
So did my mate the late John Philpott, Centre Half and Terry Paine’s minder. Also appeared in the book along with John’s picture of Terry after he won his first England Cap.
Add Don Marks to that list. Good local cricketer who I played against and then I later played with his two sons.
Great stuff! My uncles name was John Johnson. I believe he was a midfield dynamo! They may well have been mates. Sadly, John died a couple a years ago, but i know he went to a couple of get-togethers when TP was back from South Africa.
My local team would be one of Charlie Austin’s old teams, Poole Town
I went to school and played footie and cricket with Paul and Stuart. Paul started playing again recently. V.good bat.
Through their surname, we still know Paul as Skid. Went to see him playing for Hursley Thirds this summer.
Stu aka Ferret doesnt play anymore.
He’s back.

But, but, but it’s Frank Lampard’s Coventry City…!
The good thing about that is when the board finally pulls the trigger on Pinder’s bloke, Lamps will be safely out of the frame.
Having been dicked twice by him while he was caretaking, the Duty Free boys at Leicester are about to appoint Ruud van Nistelroy.
At least he’s not as ugly as Cooper.
If I gambled I’d put 5 Zlotys on Lallana getting the job
