Scots can’t wait to wear the old kilts, bagpipes and all the stuff that goes with it.
Seeing a bloke in a kilt and a Saltire is quite amusing but also worrying and this whopper is voting along the lines of Rob Roy and William Wallace, pure romantic voting and the SNP lap it up or shall I say sell it to the Bravehearts.
Brings out tolerance everywhere…
I am also amazed that so many want to join the EU yet leave the UK.
That argument hasn’t even started really yet.
Barry, you seem stuck on the issue that only 20% of Scottish folks want the Euro… but that it would be the requirement of EU membership… so it’s a ridiculous question. The real questions are
Whether folks would accept the euro if it came down to a choice of EU membership or not ?
What interim currency solutions are possible? - I suspect that in those circumstance as with Brexit, there would be a negotiated deal and a transition period, so not sure what the issue is really?
They gave theirs up and they regret it, it not some nationalistic pride its about control.
I know many EU supporters and they are very wary of giving up the £, I also know quite a few Spanish and French people who regret they didn’t put up more of a fight.
Your simplistic argument of we’ll just get paid is laughable.
Why… as most who want to join the EU take the view its not where a decision is made but WHAT decisions are made, and the feeling in Scotland is that Brussels makes better one for the people here than Westminster does (rightly or wrongly)
The answer to that question could decide the outcome of a referendum with many pulling back into the Union fold.
There wouldn’t be a negotiation as there isn’t any room for one, its either with consent or not, the Government have already said there won’t be a deal and even if there is it’ll be dog food being fed, so much for independence.
It’ll be a slogan of Independence means independence, but not really, we’re still controlled by the City of London and Bank Of England.
Then the next question is how long do you stay on the lead until you can gain entry in the EU?
It’ll be humiliating.
As for countries given up their original currencies, because Barry knows a few people who wished they hadn’t, apparently that means that it was a huge mistake.
But that’s not about what the currency is called, that’s because it’s controlled by the ECB and they don’t want to be controlled by said body, they’d rather control their own currency, they’d probably be happy to call their currency the Euro if they were allowed to…
Oh Christ on the provision they eventually join, whether they will or not is another thing.
Look for this sort of stuff yourself, if you don’t know just ask but stop blindly shooting in the hope to get a hit.
They do and I suppose they could print more aligned to sterling, they wouldn’t be legal as such anywhere other than Scotland (maybe not even in Scotland I don’t know) and could be traded in at all times for sterling, why do that though as you’d have to have massive reserves?
I recently read an article and this SNP loon said the currency should be backed by Whisky, wind power, off shore oil and forestry, if that isn’t crackpot then I don’t know what is, how much does a nation need to start an economy, how much is reserves and how much deficit have they already got?
If wouldn’t amount to the funding of all public services that’s for sure.
