The 2017 Election Thread

They have, just not by as much as they said

Debt has risen because we still spend more than we earn

On the up side, we got our Lloyds bank money back.

I have never had a problem with peoples assets being used to fund care in their old age. That is why you save etc so that when you stop earning you can look after yourself. Why should the state pay for care when you are sat on several hundred thousand pounds of assets. Feel more like the younger generation being pissed off that their anticipated cruise fund is going to get nicked by the state.

To all recent critics of the typography, I have three things to say:-

  1. Fuck the fuck off
  2. I’m more than happy with the performance of the design on social media
  3. Let’s see your fucking political sloganing :lou_sunglasses:

So May’s government is ending free school meals for the first three years in primary school.

If they’re lucky, people will vote for them without reading that manifesto. They certainly won’t win on ideas.

Winter fuel payment gone for middle class pensioners.

Too bloody right

Old man CB Saint aka 5 cruises, doesn’t need the fuel allowance - in fact the old dear uses it to buy a new handbag every year. So if they can find a way to means test this without the test costing more that the savings and the savings then goes to those who actually need it - great.

The old un used to have a holiday home which ridiculously atracted a second winter fuel allowance - when he rang up to tell them the error, they just said keep it, it is too much hassle to sort.

It’s disastrous politics, as is their plan to make pensioners pay for ALL social care until they’ve less than 100K in assets.

And yes, the price of the family home is included in the assets. If it’s worth more than 100K, those needing social care will need to sell it.

So that’s work all your life, and then have the state take all bar 100K back before you die. Oh, and triple lock is going too.

The suggestion has been made before, but I’ve never taken it seriously. Are the Tories even in this to win it?

They seem to be intent on pissing off people that have voted for them in droves before.

Do you agree with the concept that people who can afford it should pay for their care? Seems reasonable to me.

Or should we throw that burden onto the generation below to pay for.

“What’s the point of having a copper jar? You’re not going to get a weekly shop with that anymore. You need a fucking dustbin.”

How would you define this?

What? You don’t think that people that can afford to pay for their care should pay for it? That’s mental.

Well, looks like over £100k in assets…its gone up from £23k.

Not big news with the announcement of who’s paying for the rich’s next tax break, but important confirmation of how people have been treated when at their lowest point.

I’m pretty pumped! Best general election ever! No more of this centre right centre left bollocks, we’ve got some proper tory bastards vs proper lefty wets, in a fkn fight to the DEATH.

In the red corner, someone says they’re hungry, so you buy everyone a sandwich, just to be on safe side.

In the blue corner, someone says they’re hungry, so you check their fkn pockets and interview their neighbours.

LET’S 'AVE IT!

Benefits is still something that needs to be ripped up and started again, it’s my biggest bugbear about the Conservatives.

Only gone up because it now includes their homes. It’s shit, but feel free to attempt to make it sound good.

Suggested limit of £85k for care, leaves £15k to leave to family(on £100k home). Used to be all of it. Tell people the benifit of that.

The theory, like pensions, is that people already *have* paid for it.

A big part of the social contract here is that you work when you’re able, and get looked after when you’re not. The Tories have just pissed on that part of the social contract.

Because it funds the social care system.

I just want to get this right - we don’t think those that have enough money should pay for their own social care, but we do think we should increase the income tax for those who can afford it to pay for others social care?

Seems like a bit of hypocrisy there to be honest.

And as I’ve always said previously, I think those that can afford it should pay for private healthcare. Pay for what you use, unless you can’t afford it, then the state picks up the bill.

What’s wrong with that?
