The 2017 Election Thread

It was rhetorical, but the point remains, their economies were reinvented, are we saying due to globalisation we can’t compete with lower waged nations and we’re doomed to be under the heel of London’s banking and service industry that in reality does nothing for millions?

What a depressing thought, there has to be more than that?
How do Denmark, Sweden and Finland cope?

It is a party you are voting for not a president.

you vote for your local MP not the party leader.

if the party leader does not get elected they cannot be in the government

About the size of it Barry.

How do the others cope??

Denmark - mass produces Bacon and beer

Sweden - Ikea and pine furniture

Finland - Santa Clause visits.

@pap can you sort out Barry quotes please, they always appear dark and scary, sort of Barryesque!!!

Shift+Enter seems to fix it.

So we couldn’t compete?
Or imitate?

How Barry?

Materials are going to cost the same so the main difference is going to be labour costs! Giving that we have a minimum wage and properly regulated working conditions how are we going to get those reduced to a level to compete with the Far East?

Are you advocate we bin the minimum wage or do we subsidise everything we manufacture so that we can sell it abroad? If we do this where is that money going to come from? @bearsy 's hole diggers pockets via tax increase I would have thunk…

How do Denmark, Sweden and Finland do it then?

But Barry what do they do? I highlighted above what I think comes out of the countries, slightly tongue in cheek I know?

Very much so, my point was they have a far more equal society, a far happier one, a healthier one, why?
Whats the secret, how are why are they better than we are?
What are we missing?
Investment?
Reluctance on our selfish bastard part to want to pay higher taxes?

Theresa May is today visiting a factory in St Ives, a marginal seat in Cornwall. Reports are coming in that reporters from local media, including the Cornish Guardian, The Western Morning News and West Briton have been locked in a room by Conservative Party officials, to stop them filming Theresa Mays visit. WTF! The newspapers were told they could ask only two questions between them, and their agreed spokesman asked her a question about the NHS, and then asked for clarification about NHS spending. Neither question was answered satisfactorily, he was then informed he had used his allotted two questions. They were then locked in a room to stop them following May and filming her visit.

This is starting to get Trumpesque. Anyone of normal intelligence who would even consider voting for this shower, really should have a long hard look in the mirror and have a word with themselves.

It’s almost like she doesn’t actually want to get elected and she wants someone else to handle the Brexit negotiations.

Then in 5 years time she can step in and say “I told you so” or whatever…

It won’t make the headlines though NK.

Not as long as Diane Abbott keeps making a massive twat of herself anyway.

The picture of the Locked Door made me lol. I wouldn’t need Jonathan Creek to solve that conundrum.

It is a bit odd - politicians usually fall over themselves to be seen and heard.

Maybe the journos should be locked away if they couldnt figure that out.

don’t make jokes cb. What if there was a fire?

Ring 999?

The words Diane Abbott and massive twat when used in the same sentence together conjure up a very frightening image!

They usually have people skills.
