And yet yesterday Sky Newsās Breaking News Tickertape mentioned a statement by Bashar in the Russian <edia Agency RIA that a āPlan for a new structure for Syria could be ready in two weeksā and today the same tickertape is saying that Bashar is āopen to early elections if the Syrian People wish itā
So yes, pretty much was a done deal then.

If it is being sped up, itās only after years of EU member states getting very arsey about the prospect of Turkey joining. I donāt have an issue with Muslim nations joining the EU, and Turkey should be a real coup for the EU. The geographical border between Europe and Asia runs right through Istanbul.
That all said, Turkey has major issues of its own, including intolerance (particularly towards certain ethnicities). Most EU countries arenāt in the business of setting their armed forces onto minorities within their national borders.

Turkey does indeed have a few issues of its own concerning joining a liberal system when it is not liberal itself, its not a meeting of minds its a marriage of convenience.
