Governments shape policy from the collective electorate, you simply balming the Government in a democracy is crazy, its the people.
Weâll have to disagree on that one then mate. Governments, once in power, generally do whatever the fuck they like, sadly.
I donât remember being asked for my consent to invade Iraq twice, or Afghanistan. And David Cameron definitely never gave me a call to ask if it was ok with me to drop bombs on Syria.
I understand what youâre getting at Barry. I simply cannot accept that governments shape policy according to the wishes of the people. They generally dictate policy regardless of what we think about it once theyâve got their feet in the corridors of power.
Also, I struggle to use the work âdemocracyâ in the same sentence as the word israel. Democracies generally are supposed to give all citizens equal rights.
Shape policy not single issues like a war, hence manifestos.
They shape that around popular support to be elected, land grabs wouldnât take place unless the people wanted them in short, walls wouldnât be built unless the people wanted them etc etc you get the drill.
Pap as lovely as that sounds in a student hall it isnât really like that on all issues on all things, Corbyn is anti EU but he has swallowed his brain and gone with what he thinks the population want?
Understand? Its really is quite simple, the tory step down after the budget?

Corbyns spent 30 yrs promoting his most beloved policies like i.e. executing the Queen and i.e. forcing anyone earning more than ÂŁ31K p.a. to Eat Shit, but soon as he got a sniff of power he Sold Out RIP
We will all remember with fondness that time Barry arrived on a sensitive thread, announced that he wasnât here to point score, then talked about the Chewbacca defence.
Or waffled on about the EU on the US Presidents thread, or spent days asking everyone whether they thought the Quâran was homophobic on a thread about Roger Helmer
Yes that book of lies is homophobic and people who adhere to it by default are homophobes, the same goes for all similar bollocks religious teachings my old china, make sense?
It should do as it is very very simple to understand.

Itâs cute when you try to be patronising, whilst totally not understanding the point. Bless.

Good point well made by Barry over Russia and the Ukraine.
But here is the question. Clearly in Crimea, Russia was âseenâ to be âprotectingâ ethnic Russians. It was also seen to be protecting itâs âsovereigntyâ or âNational Interestsâ. It acted.
Now, where else in the Middle East have âThe Westâ actually âintervenedâ where we could see clear National Interests as opposed to âsome agenda that was an assumption made by Politiciansâ
A very subtle difference to be sure, and letâs face it, if we were TSW and we had the old Pap heâd be all over the idea that Israel could have fabricated the WMD Dossiers to get âThe Westâ to invade a nation thousands of miles from us for no âNational Interestâ
Oh I âget the drillâ mate. Just donât agree with you is all.
Iâve been intimately connected with the region, itâs politics, and appalling humanitarian situation for over twenty years of my working life, and happen to have a solid understanding of its history during that time (and before, through academic studies).
But let us not jump onto another tiresome circular bore-fest together in this thread too, and send the good people of Sotonians to sleep again. That would simply consist of me listing a vast array of facts which you insist are ânot provenâ, and would be rather counter-productive.

On a sensitive thread? Ha ha oh Jesus, point scoring not my scene son but I was again correct.
So being that Iâm out now for the night and I need to crack on with my life over the next few days â weâll just say that youâre correct again Barry and you can have a night off.
My dearly departed step-father used to recount the story that he âwas only ever wrong once, in 1979. But a few years on, it was later discovered that he was actually right after all.â
You two would have got on like a house on fire.
He said he had a long-lost son from his promiscuous army days that he never knew what became of him. Iâm wondering if I might just have found him.
Just playing with ya. Have a good night my friend.
