Why hasn’t he put in the Echo or matchday program then?
And he wants Hojbjerg the first player not to be a stepping stone? Who the fuck could we sell him to? He’s staying.
What next Redmond will be the beating heart of this side and a cornerstone for years?
Maybe we should just stick Redmond in stocks outside the Guildhall?
No just drop him and play him in the U23’s like I said a while back, its helping no one this.
Yeah you’re right, what has he done for us recently?
Apart from putting us in a cup final I mean.
Did he really, did he really…
Scored at St Marys and ran them ragged up there. So yes. He played a major part.
*Checks match report from first leg*
Yes. Yes he did.
I get you don’t like him Bazza, but you can’t deny that he has been an important player for us at times this season. He tore the Scousers apart in that second leg, and if Tadic & Davis finished their chances he would’ve deservedly walked away with the match ball in our most important game so far this season.
He’s 22 years old ffs - yes he’s raw, but he’s got talent and given time i’m sure he’ll come good for us.
But he didn’t get us there he helped us there, but as we pick players for different games him being a constant suggests the manager rates him and for what? He has been shit in the League.
The League doesn’t give us the luxury of basically developing players for other clubs to buy, if he comes good he is gone, why should we be patient with him? He could be losing us points, we’re not a charity.
Evening Barry, I agree that Redmond can be fuckin’ frustrating sometimes, his end product can be woeful but he is improving a bit at a time. The one thing you do get out of him tho’ is involvement… he makes things happen and he’s not afraid to have a go, to try something adventurous. What’s lacking is a bit of finesse and a calmer head … these will come with age and experience.
I’d rather have Remond missing the odd sitter or fucking up a couple of crosses than Tadic going awol for whole games at a time with ever increasing frequency
Fucking annoying result tonight tho’, we should of won that. They were there for the taking once we equalised but we threw it away.
My point is we need to refine our policy as we seem to develop or buy players solely with potential and sell on value, that needs to be in tandem with assured quality otherwise it is a total gamble and how can we honesty progress if every season if we’re bedding in new talent or players departing?
The answer is obvious, simple and hardly original. money.
Pay enough money and they’ll stay, until that is done we’ll be on this chartwheel and all it’ll take for it to balls up is poor buys and not enough coming through from the academy.
People stay at City and Chelsea now, why is that?

Who?
Players with a proven record, it costs but you pay for that.
Do you think we can progress without money?
That is the truest thing you have ever said

agree if we paid bros as much as city and chelsea do, we’d have more chance of hanging on to them. Wonder why we don’t?
We gamble and promote players too soon and put them in the shop window, we’re then told how good this is for Southampton FC, its not as we sell them, its good that those players have got game time, experience and knowledge for the buying club.
Where has all the money gone from the sales?
How much money do we get from sponsorship and TV deals?
All perfectly valid questions as someone is making a large profit and what do we get?
A media love in of how good we are, its good in the business sense but in the football sense of todays mercenary World?
No its doesn’t benefit it us, if everybody did the same then yes but they’re not they basically forgotten or pay scant regard to the academies as the TV money pays for ready made players.
We’re a glorified chicken farm.
Do you think that’s what Chelsea thought when they bought Torres? Or when Boro bought Jordan Rhodes? Or United bought Schweinsteiger? All transfers are a risk.
If we pay, for example, VVD £150K per week, what do you think the other players will do when their contracts are up for discussion?
Of course we don’t have the money of them, so do we progress under the current system?
We don’t and we can’t, its impossible.
So what is your solution if we don’t have the money to compete with those clubs?
I agree but how can we improve under the conditions set by the club, if players do well they’ll be sold so the point is is there some traction in buying assured quality with small resale value?
