Parking the fruit and veg for a moment, I think you are wrong. America tried throwing money at footballers years back but only ever got those at the end of their careers elsewhere. There is hardly a mass exodus of top quality players to China. We would have to offer players an awful lot more money not to go to the likes of Manchester United or Liverpool. If you were a player what would you prefer - to play for Crystal Palace or Bournemouth or to play for Manchester United, Arsenal or Liverpool? There is money, there is also the prestige of playing for a top club. After your career no one will give a toss about how much you earned, but tell them you played for a top club and you will go up in their estimation.

I love the nostalgic view but of course money talks, why would Sterling leave Liverpool for City? Torres for Chelsea, don’t talk shite of course money talks, where were City before money? Could you see Silva or Aguero going there, come on for fucks sake its all about money.
The wages should be lowered (or a salary cap) but the EU won’t allow that as they love inequality and divison.
Don’t worry Barry. I have it on good authority that we’re leaving the EU. Who’d have thought it eh?
