Get in line big man…

In a world where an 18 year old went for over £50m two years ago and another may go for somewhere around £150m this year, it’s peanuts.

He’s good, buy him. They will take a slightly improved offer. Someone else will if we don’t, now it’s known we are sniffing around.

Surely we’ve fined van dick enough to pay for him by now.

So if we do make one more signing what position would you like it to be in? I think we need a Tadic upgrade personally…

Not an upgrade. Preferably a part exchange

In an ideal world we’d sign a wide forward with pace and a creative attacking midfielder. A true test of the black box.

If we truly want to kick on then we cannot afford so many players prone to inconsistency, in the same side as we do with Redmond and Tadic. I can’t believe Redmond (aka the new Henry) missed that chance yesterday. Especially after watching Mane score from a similar angle yet more difficult situation this afternoon.

The way Aaron Ramsey just played, perhaps Arsenal would consider offloading him! He gets goals from midfield.

That was a goid post Simon.

Up until Aaron Ramsey.

Mane missed more than Redmond in his time here.

My worry is that Redmond is a clone of George Lawrence. “The most gifted player since Pele… from the shoulders down…”

Why not? Redmond’s not as good as Mane. The fact that currently Mane’s market value is at least 4x that of Redmond gives you some indication.

We’ve been pretty good over the last few seasons of spotting the right player and getting good use out of them. We’re always going to get a couple of duds.

@lifeintheslowlane made a good point (possible in another thread) about needing somebody to serve Gabbi. He must be frustrated with the service he’s getting. He makes great runs all the time while our midfield is ponderous and seemingly obsessed with moving the ball from side to side instead of looking for his runs as a matter of priority. Redmond missed at least 2 glaring opportunities to put him in yesterday. Unless we sign someone capable of doing that in the next week we might have another season of frustration ahead (unless Boufal gets a chance and finds his feet)

From what I’ve seen so far we haven’t moved on from Puel. Some might say we’d have been better keeping a manager who’d already had a season’s experience under his belt in the Premier League.

As an aside, has anyone drawn up a Venn diagram for those fans who wanted Puel out and those berating VVD for a lack of loyalty?

I like Redmond and unlike some thought he played well at times last year BUT his distribution in final 3rd and finishing at times is woeful. He’s never going to be as good as Mane was so it’s an area that’s definitely weaker. Tadic does my head in. He must have photos of Les Reeds romps with Bletch, why else would he keep getting picked.

Because it was a relatively easy chance, he had plenty of time, t’was a favourable angle for a right sided player, and because he is a professional footballer. That is why.

£8m for a bloke who can’t get into the worst defence in the Premier League?

Bargain.

In that case, expect a late move from Arsenal. :lou_wink_2:

~£22m for Jonny Evans

~£35m for Oxlade Chamberlain

~£28m for 'dross Townsend

~£8m for Fonte :lou_lol:

Sigh. When in the modern era have we ever seen a Saints player take the ball from a throw in, beat players and rifle home a long range goal.

Oh wait…
