He is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Saints and will subsequently be overlooked for the Aquile’s Serie A opener against Spal on Sunday.
Considering the “sell before you buy” message today and the fact that Hoedt looks imminent, I can see VVD going next week. If he was to come back into the fold it would mean Stephens or Yoshida being 4th choice CB again and Bednarek being 5th choice, which I can’t see happening. Wonder if we might move Yoshi on given he’s got one year left on his contract?
You would think that Gardos would be on his way. I still dont think that VVD will go this season. Perhaps Bednarek will go out on loan? No sign of a new contract for Yoshi, so yes, perhaps he might move on?
I speculated about this the other day and I reckon Yoshida is waiting until the close of the transfer window (or at least closer towards the deadline) before signing a deal that is already on the table. He will want to know where he stands in the likely pecking order before extending. He won’t want to find himself in a - always the bridesmaid, never the bride - kind of situation after performing admirably last year.
Gardos will go on loan or have the remaining year cancelled by mutual consent - if he can find a club that’ll have him that is. I predict a return to Romanian football or something like that. Cannot see anybody offering a meaningful fee for him due to his injuries.
I agree with @goatboy that Bednarek could go on loan to the Championship etc for a year. Or he stays if Yoshida bounces.
Am I alone in thinking that additional funds do not include funds for intended transfers. I would think that funds have already been allotted. It’s just saying not to expect additional expensive signings before the window closes.
Is it a big deal if he goes. Haven’t been keeping an eye on him, but I recall he was a bit of a liability…like Yoshida a,while back (thought he had a bloody good game today tbf).
