ā€œThe last world leader leader youd expect to see on Italian Television pushing a hard boiled egg up his arseā€

I’ve just watched the first episode of Wandavision, available on Disney+. Didn’t see any trailers, knew virtually nothing about it and haven’t read any reviews.

I am intrigued. It’s a half hour show, the first episode in black and white, which features Wanda (The Scarlet Witch) and Vision from the Avengers movies starring in their own 50s sitcom, a clear homage to Bewitched.

I think I liked it. I am certainly going to watch the next one. I’ve got a lot of respect for anything that goes the extra mile to really nail something, and this does, even down to the cheesey 1950s style jokes.

I’m a big fan of the movie Pleasantville, and this show kinda has that vibe, except neither lead has much recollection of how they met, or how they got there. I expect this mystery element of the show to become more prominent as time goes on.

Not watched (bad internet means only on Ep3 of Expanse!)
But.
Apparently there is incredible detail in the ads in that show.
Saw a pic of a speedometer you had to zoom to see ā€œmade by Hydraā€

Fam C_S are now almost up to date with The Expanse, just the latest episode to watch.

Bloody miles behind in Vikings, but I might shut myself away and make an effort to catch up this evening, if only to shut out the inevitable memories of taters talking about that 9:0

This season is really something, all about family and abusive relationships and suchlike. Really not comfortable to watch sometimes, but it’s a great character arc for Naomi. I won’t ā€œspoilā€ this week’s episode any more than I have already.

I think Marco is going to be around for a while. We’re doing book five at the moment, roughly speaking and the Free Navy is around for book six. I think that is where they will end the current run of the series.

One big change coming next year, sort of mandated by real life, is that Cas Anwar who plays Alex will not be in the show. Loads of allegations swirling about the actor being a creep at conferences and such like in the #MeToo style.

They could kill the character off. I hope they don’t, and recast when the series comes back. The character is kind of a big deal. First Martian through the Ring, first Martian to visit an extra-solar planet.

I think they could probably get another five series out of the next three books, especially if the writers continue to supplement the novels with short stories and novellas. If they do it right, it could be something quite special - a sci-fi show revived not as a cash grab, but because that is what the plot actually calls for

Many of the events of later books are about the consequences of things you have already seen (e.g. people colonising worlds and suchlike). The story has a time jump in book seven.

I have mentioned the Netflux Saqarra Pyramid documentary before.

Another huge Discovery today. Real history rewriting stuff. Sod Indiana Jones 5!

Finally finished Raised by Wolves.
It is brilliant.
It was still hard to binge
But.
All of that. 10 episodes. For a…
OK I get it but…

Watched Doctor Sleep last night, not read the book so I can’t compare to that, it had pure King hallmarks and was quite enjoyable.

Got the proper ending to the Shining in it too, fuck you Mr Kubrick.

There is another Raised by Wolves written by Caitlin Moran (who I used to live near and would see her out in the local posh shopping area).

Amazon Prime has some top class crime!

Watched The Departed last night. Going to watch Heat tonight.

So I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve seen the next episode of WandaVision and am starting to get the shape of what it is. The show is a satire of old sit coms, starring Scarlet Witch and Vision from the Avengers.

People, especially Vision, are very sketchy on how they got there. In the Marvel comics, Wanda is an incredibly powerful being. There is a fantastic run of comics called House of M, in which Magneto is the world’s ruler and has been for some time, which is entirely a construct of her powers.

I think something similar is going on here, and episode three certainly hints at that. Each episode has its clues though.

Given that this is the first thing out of Marvel Studios since Spider-Man : Far From Home, it’s a ballsy move because it is so different to other MCU stuff.

I’m liking it more with each episode.
