Rodriguez needs to be sent out on loan to get some games and goals but we haven’t got enough strikers to do that. I really hope we sign someone in Jan. As good as long is at what he does, he will never be a prolific goal scorer. I wonder if Boufal can play as a striker? Stick him in the middle with Tadic and Redmond either side of him.
Shlong is useful if you is get the ball forward early and down the channels etc for him to chase after like Irish retriever. He is fish up tree in Puel death by possession systems. I would prob Sell Him. That is what I think about That.
This is still infinately better than playing in Division One! I can live with mid table mediocrity rather than go back to those days. I do feel sorry for Puel. I dont think he has done a bad job. We are making chances (I would be more worried if we weren’t) but JRod isnt the player he was, Long has lost the plot after being excellent for the second half of last season, Austin hasnt been as good as Pelle and is now out for a few months and we dont score enough from midfield. We are not crap, nor is the manager, no matter what I resident Batman impersonator thinks. Thing is we are neber ghoing to spend £30m on a striker so we need to find someone within budget who ticks our boxes. That means us and hundreds of other clubs in the world are after a quality goalscorer on the cheap. Most of us would have taken this form quite happily when we were going down faster than Miley Cyrus at a Take That reunion backstage party. We need to be more realistic with our expectations. I am sure most of us on here can remember when we have been truly crap!!
Sorry Sog and others but I think JRod is pretty much EXACTLY the player he was when he first came to us. It took him a while to get going then but he did in the end. He looked plain shite when he first appeared in a Saints shirt and everyone was saying he’d never cut it.
I honestly think he can get it back, but he just needs a bit of time and a run in the team (and people to lay the fuck off him on Twitter!).

Easy to confuse I guess as we both play in red and white stripes.
I dont disagree with you about JRod and I hope you are right about him getting his form back. It was a cruel blow to get such a bad injury when he did.
Quote from the official site from VVD:
““We play with wingers now, we change it up sometimes, we have the players to do well,” he explained. I don’t think it is the system. I think it is just that bit of quality, that bit of luck but I think we need to analyse and get ready for it.”
The cynical psychologist in me thinks that the very fact he has mentioned the system means that he has at the very least considered it being the system as being the problem. Which equally suggests that the players are questioning the validity of the pedestrian approach.
Admittedly we dont know what the question put to him was, but I highly doubt the club media man was questioning our system as a reason why we cant score goals for toffee.
I watched the extended highlights this morning and was impressed by Boufal so fingers crossed he keeps improving and influencing games. Claude needs to keep playing him now and had better not rest him against Bournemouth otherwise he will lose momentum. I also feel he needs to stick with either Jay or Shlong for a run of games because one of them needs to score and get some confidence. Being in and out of the team ‘resting’ is not going to help in this regard. As Bearsy has so delightfully phrased it, I would go with Jay at this moment in time because Shlong just isnt suited to the current style. One of these days Jay is gunna bury a two yarder!
Who’s fault is that though? Is he saying the players now dictate the strategy?
Pretty sure the ‘strategy’ wasn’t to miss from a yard. Again.
Yep - Puel is a metric man all the way
