I thought Clasie eptiomised Saints yesterday. In the first half he did all the simple stuff really well. He picked up balls from the defence and moved the play, he was up in support of Cedric/Bertrand giving them an option to play back away from goal/the touch line, he retained possesion cleverly and pressed well with Davis. Second half he backed off, stopped settling the ball down and allowed the defence to just hoof it clear. I don’t know why we feel that holding on to a 2-0 is OK, and by that I mean holding on for a 2-0 win is excellent, just not when it’s the way we’ve done it (and not done it) against Bournemouth and Leicester!
Not a huge fan of how in our last 3 games we don’t really come back out after half time. Would like Ron to address that pretty fast, 'coz y’know, it’s a game of two halves etc.
First half (again) we were really good, but yeah didn’t come out 2nd.
VvD was very good.
Liked the look of Clasie first half, faded second. Hopefully that’s just a fitness thing.
Pellè & Tadic were cracking first half, very quiet second.
No idea why Vic didn’t come off sooner, was obvious (almost as soon as he was booked) that the 2nd yellow was coming.
My initial misgivings about Stek seem unfounded, thankfully. He does look solid.
Agree Mané was quiet, but yeah, he’s been good more often than not lately. Everyone can have an off game, let’s just hope they aren’t too frequent from him.
