:pl: :saintsfc: Southampton v West Ham :westhamfc: (live on :prime_video_logo:)

I notice that only 3 of us predicted the draw.

We’re always the same against ā€œdefensiveā€ teams, they packed their box, we haven’t got an ultra creative player that keeps the ball at his feet when running at defenders…

Wasn’t expecting anything from this one so happy with the point. They will feel they probably should have won it. As said we are very pedestrian and seem to be going backwards after our purple patch earlier. Perhaps teams have worked us out? Perhaps the intensity has shagged us out. We looked pretty toothless tonight. Here’s hoping we can get our mojo back soon but at the moment we seem to be lacking that belief we had earlier.
Shout out for Walcott who certainly cannot be faulted for effort.

Just said this won’t be a game they won’t talk about in 20 years time, in fact it won’t be a game they talk about in 20 minutes.

I agree.

Tough fixtures ahead.

They are all tough fixtures. The main thing is that no other team will be looking at us and thinking there’s an easy 3 points.

Only Leeds for me is where we could get some points.

All in all it’s been a very good calendar year for us, if we can’t keep up the high tempo needed to push into (and stay in) the top 6 then I’d like us to have a real fucking go at the FA cup.

The tactic Ralph mentioned, keeping possession near the halfway line and drawing opponents in to open them up with a through ball just isn’t happening now. Sides aren’t trying to press us in that area.

I thought Stephens had a solid enough game to be fair, timed his tackles well and didn’t make any fuck ups. We do miss Vestergaard though, not least for his dominance in the box at set pieces when JWP whips those corners and wide free kicks in. At least three times tonight you could see him getting on the end of one, he uses his height and attacks the ball so well.

Yes, I thought he had a solid game generally but he did give the ball away twice in dangerous areas that better teams would likely have scored from. He does have ability but he is also guilty of one or two serious brain farts per game.

Well done! Given our poor record against the ā€˜Ammers and the fact that we currently seem to be on a downward trajectory, I had this as a defeat. They probably should have won it with that late chance but you have to put the ball in the net

I was thinking more WALL-E / EVE / Captain-B

I’ll leave it to you to decide who’s who.

We are still only 6 points of the top and playing Scousampton (are we still allowed to call them that) next will only be three points behind them if Newcastle get a home win of course :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Thanks Scotty. Tried that but couldn’t get the little blue line where I wanted it. Fat fingers syndrome I guess!

I just read Pelle is available on a free to solve lack of goals upfront.
Back to the successful Laurie mac days . We could go with Long, Walcott and Pelle up front. We must be moving up the average age table.
