Southampton v West Brom match thread

Just back from the game…

…well that was easy.

Stuck with the back 3/5 and we looked really solid again. Fraser caught a couple of crosses and that was all he had to do. Makes the game a good deal easier if we limit the opposition’s chances like this.

Cedric had a very good game at right back. Seems to be getting into the groove now. Looked dangerous going forward as usual but also looks to be recovering his position much more effectively. Maybe his fitness levels are improving?

The Jose/VVD patnership looks so much better with VVD on the right and Bertrand using his pace to mop up. Not sure how we got there but this 3 seems to be the way forward.

Another good game from Targett on the left. Hopefully this will be the start of a good run in the team for him. A couple of misplaced crosses but tidy, and won the penalty.

JWP had a good game (in addition to his two goals). We were slating him before the game so that seemed to work again :lou_wink_2:.

Davis was awesome. My MOTM. So consistent and upped his game further today.

Vic looked sluggish/casual in the first half but got better as the game went on. Still not convinced by him at the moment though.

Long had another cracking game. All the doubters can now really fuck off. Love him in the side.

Mane: just fucking score mate. My Nan wouldn’t waste the number of chances you do. Shown up by Tadic. Again.

An easy 3-0 win. I bet Pulis is spitting feathers.

On to Old Trafford to wake up the Man United fans.

Happy Days.

Can someone who’s not a dinlo answer please? I can’t be fucked wading through SWF to find out.

Rested. Deemed not strong enough for 3 games in 7 days.

That’s fair enough…the amount of work he got through on Wednesday night was amazing.

Those two home games were key to our season and Koeman not staring down a barrel, want January to end now and Long to stay.

That “dinlo” comment hurt.

Amazing day.

The club is run by clowns but sign a proven Premiership stiker for £4m.

JWP cannot score. Opps

Tadic doesnt score enough. Opps

Steve Davis doesnt provide assists. Opps.

Ronald K is useless and we should get rid. Opps

Who would have though that the leading lights on TSW could get it so wrong.

Graphic showing Wanyama's passing success

Victor Wanyama (left) played 60 passes, completing 88%. By comparison, Darren Fletcher (right) only played 19. Fletcher and fellow West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob (46) only managed 65 passes combined.

Nice stat.

A week is a long time in football!

Nice to see Rickie, his manager might not be a fan but at least he knows we still love him.

Must have been funny for him to sit there on the bench listening to us slagging off the guys selected ahead of him.

Great match. I’d like to get a couple of things straight. First off, Mr Knows-Fuck-All-About-Football here (yours truly) was bigging JWP up pre-game. A broken clock is right twice a day, I guess. Was really pleased to see him score his goals. We’ve dealt with his main flaw in a player before. The mighty MLT had no pace, but could sink shots from a distance :lou_sunglasses:

The defensive line is looking a lot more solid and we’re scoring goals again. A very good win today, and a very good week in the league for the Saints.

Compare and contrast with the treatment Lallana got during _that _substitution at St Marys. I loved that we sang for him, and joined in with every chant.

The “you’re just a shit Rickie Lambert” chant directed at Rickie’s “betters” after fluffing their lines was particularly amusing.

Perhaps because it’s populated by FM16 playing clueless cuntybolloxs.

And Romeu was again the new crowd favourite (of course we are allowed to have several favourites). Turning into a very handy player.

What a great day that was. 2nd visit to Star Wars (wow there is so much stuff you miss 1st time round!)

Then following the text updates on the cricket while heading down to Barasti, to meet a member of London Saints who was here on his holidays, knows all the crew from Salisbury really well, and then the game.

The early goal totally changed things yesterday, WBA set up so even the 'tater said Pulis had adopted a Park the bus formation, then went to plan B then to C.

We thought VW did everything asked of him, he was always looking for the ball, and moving it on quickly and closing down. Targett again, Davis getting better each week ffs and FF had another afternoon of “easy money” all the while reading rants from other clubs’ fans on Twitter (esp Chelsea) as to why THEIR teams had missed out on Austin.

Mane has every chance of being the next Messi, he simply needs to get his brain to catch up with his body when he gets into good positions. Right now he is so close, even without composure, his pace scares defenses to death making space for other players and drawing fouls.

A really good day and broke my reputation of being this season’s “Bogeyman” by finally seeing Saints win while in the pub!

I just about never bother looking on TSW at all these days. Reading that, I’ll carry on that way!
