someone really should have a word wth the ‘kids’ of today. The ‘metrosexual Tintin’ hair cut (as also spouted by many footballers, but they are stupid cunts so can be sort of be forgiven) was shit in 1982 (together with skin tight jeans and slip on shoes)… seriously really shit then and even shittier now.
If you have one of these haircuts and wear skinny jeans, hang your head in shame… I see Turkish is there in the background (grey shirt) also scowling at the old blokes in replica shirts…
I used to have the same (Fred Perry in my day) black with yellow trim T-Shirt as the bespectacled guy doing a gangsta thang with his fingers just above and to the left of Niall Quinn.
Almost downvoted for not recognizing the importance of fashion comment when looking to help our fans be less ‘challenged’ in this respect, but you make a fair point on the falling over and receiving penalties.
Yeah I’m of the opinion (now that I’ve seen a replay when sober) that it was a penalty, Defoe made the most of it but he turned Fonte and the contact was there. Great to see JRod smash one in from 20 yards, I love his attitude of shoot on sight and yesterday he got rewarded for it.
Yeah, Mike, what’s slightly frustrating me is that we had a system and style of play that had worked well for us, but now seem intent on changing it. I’m a great believer in the old adage: ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
On the other hand, I suppose, we have to keep developing and progressing, and if Puel (and the club) believes that the best way forward is to employ this diamond formation then, like Goat says, we have to be patient and have faith and give the manager and players time to get it right.
Hopefully, it won’t take too long, though, because it will be a shame if we’re struggling at the wrong end of the table during our European campaign.
Just on the fullbacks’ performances yesterday. Here are their action areas - from Sqwaka…
As we’ve discussed, they really didn’t get forward enough to support the attack and give us width. But it also shows that they were kept too busy defending by Sunderland.
EDIT: Forgive the misspelling - at least these both play for Saints unlike last night’s Charlie Adams!
Agree Halo and I’m not one to worry to quickly but with change you listen for confidence in approach and I don’t hear this. Let’s see what happens. Coming back for Prague and Swansea game so can’t wait to see how it is then. TV sometimes gives different view.
