3 games in and there is nothing to change the thoughts that French managers are shite in this League, cheap option so the board not the fans deserve what they get.
Oh and a goal from outside the box!
Now correct me if I am wrong, but last season pretty much started the same as this?
Last season
Newcastle 2-2 Southampton (we were average).
Sothampton 0-3 Everton (we were terrible).
Watford 0-0 Southampton (we were the better team but could not break through.)
then…
Southampton 3-0 Norwich. (We tore them apart)
played 3, won 0, drew 2, lost 1. Goal difference minus 3
This season
Southampton 1-1 Watford (pretty even but we had the much better of the second half)
Man U 2-0 Southampton (we played ok, but 2 mistakes cost us)
Southampton 1-1 Sunderland (We were the better side without a doubt, last 20 really good again)
Played 3, won 0, drew 2, lost 1. Goal difference minus 2
next…
away to Arsena, but then home Swansea then Palace.
In fact, we only won 1 of our first 6 games last season drew 3, lost 2.
Admirable Optimism there Sfcsim… thats the spirit!
Agree SimCity.
The players came out the traps on fire. Rome made one error then we went all jumpy. Yes that could be confusion with the manager, equally it could be that Fonte has left his composure, MOJO & footballing brain on the beach.
Chazza looked sublime until he scuffed his 3rd shot at goal. Tadic is so much more involved playing centrally.
So is it confidence/composure or confusion.
And just who do we drop for Boufal? Tadic? Davis? Romeo?
Gonna keep the rubber sheets in storage until Swansea game
A few people have commented on body language pointing to a squad that isn’t too happy.
VvD looks very down after the game here (follow the link)…

We the last caller before 7 on 606 was a Saints fan, who sounded like he was from the dark side forum. He said that it was not good enough and it was time for the owners to move on. Bed wetting of the highest level.
There’s something I don’t understand.
I follow the logic of appointing Claude, and I hope and (sort of expect) it to work out.
But when all of our recent success has been (spun as being) down to consistency in the formation we play - from under 8s to the first team, why then bring in a coach that asks his players to play in a way that is apparently so alien to them?
Also, I thought I heard that Claude’s teams played with real energy and a very high press. I may have the wrong, but I see us sitting off teams and being pressed.
It’s early days so my bed is dry, but today’s game was the first in a long time that I have watched and felt genuine concern. There were spells when we really seemed to not understand what was expected of us.
We passed the ball innocuously sideways for a while before being forced to play long aimless balls that were either intercepted or went into touch. We looked toothless and made lots of mistakes. This isn’t what I’m used to seeing. It would be churlish to not acknowledge the role that Sunderland played in making it difficult for us, but, and with all possible respect, this was Sunderland. To their credit, they attacked as much as they defended.
Things improved when we had some pace to worry their defence and better hold up play (Long) and it further improved when Jay Rod replaced Austin - who surely should be the one going out on loan as he just doesn’t have the pace/mobility/cuteness to make this interchanging diamond work.
Yours.
Concerned of Eastleigh.
May need to burn the matress come May…

Seems to be the same case most starts to the seasons, which is no surprise when you lose key players and manager.
Who is Adams?

I think you’ll find it says Austin, Fatstuff.
You should be careful. Obesity can lead to diabetes which can impair your eyesight.
It must be your weight/kidney/eyesight that is at fault because the alternative is that I just said that we fielded a Stoke City FC player today.
And we both know that I’m not that thick.
Twat.
But Sfcsim, if that is correct, do we have to accept a slow start goes with the startegy? Ok before I get yelled at for daring to challenge the ‘strategy’, surely its a little bit crap if our strategy compromises our points potential before the season even starts?just saying like…

No it doesn’t … it says Adams
EDIT: No it doesn’t … it now says Austin in Bletch’s original post but Adams when sfcSim requoted it … hmmm, strange goings on indeed
Claude’s reaction.
On about 2:47 he reacts the question about whether the players are struggling to learn the system. He said (I think) that it’s not about the system, it’s about scoring goals.
If want to change this strategy then we need to stop getting rid of key players every season. But I suppose the club are thinking we are doing pretty well under this strategy, until it takes a turn for the worse the club will continue to take this approach. If it is not broke, don’t fix it.

Are you fat too, SitF?
Check again.
The only place it says Adams is when Sfcsim quoted me - and he obviously edited my post that he quoted just to make me look stupid.
I’m here to tell you Sfcsim that it didn’t work. Nobody here thinks I’m stupid.
Right, boys?
Boys?
The Dark Side is fucking hilarious. And predicatble.
