:southampton: 🖼 Southampton - Past in pictures - places & people

You won’t be surprised to hear I remember it at the time of the picture…has to be late '50s.
My Aunt, Uncle and cousins lived in Violet Road. Their house backed onto open meadow and woodland, (towards top right) that was later bulldozed for Glen Eyre School.
We used to play in those woods and one afternoon we discovered a fallen Squirrel’s Dray with two orphan babies. My Uncle and cousins raised the little blighters…used to run riot through the house. They were released back into the wilds but they’d still come to the call to be fed for several years.
This was one of them…
