Maybe bring the tram back and weā€™d not have the awful Xmas market up the high st.

ā€œBritish Transport Filmsā€ were a staple of an evening out at The Pictures. Main feature film, the ā€œBā€ Movie and if you were lucky a ā€œBritish Transport Filmā€ They were documentaries played out like a mini dramas, something warm and comforting watching them. This one is from 1950, about Sothampton Docks and the arrival of The Queen Maryā€¦well worth a look.

The saddest part of these pictures is Southampton must have been a wonderful City in years gone by, the old station (both mainlines), the bargate, high st etc etc, now its a wankpit.

We played around worse on The Veracity Ground back in the day. Mind you sliding tackles not advised but advice usually fell on stony ground like the rest of us. :lou_wink_2:

Usually softened by the piles of dog shit.

Ah yes that was a welcome bonus. :lou_lol:

A cracking picture shamelessly stolen from ā€œSouthampton Heritage Photosā€ FB page this morning: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sothamptonheritage/
In my defence I took the liberty in adjusting and sharpening the picture a little to reveal more detail.
