When I was younger, me and the family used to stand on the avenue and watch the floats of the Southampton carnival go by! What happened to it. Such a big event.

That corner shop is still there.
Actually, it’s astonishing how little changed that looks to me. Corner shop still there, as are most if not all of the houses. Yes, there are traffic lights now, and the road to Shawford (on the left) isn’t at that angle now. But it’s still very easy to recognise.
Amazing you can remember the price - you didn’t buy them then, you don’t buy them now…
Hi Eric!

My old matchday (and any other time I was in town) haunt.
A big fave of mine and SO5’s (as you know, of course!). For some reason it’s stuck in my mind that, when I first used to drink in there, bitter was 21p a pint and HSB 23p. That was in the public bar at the front of course - the lounge at the back was a little more expensive!

Hi Eric!
Hi Keith … how apt … it was you that introduced me to the joys of The Bay Tree and Gales HSB

Decision time … turn left and go up Hill Lane to The Dell, or turn right and head off to the pub for a few pre match pints!!

The girls have swallowed bigger things than that at the boating lake
Southampton Boating Lake nostalgia joke No.2
“Come in number 9 your time is up”
“There is no number 9”
“Number 6…are you in difficulties?”
Thank you
Got some fantastic aerial views coming up later on this evening.
NOT the washing powder, if any of you jokers thought about posting a picture of that!
