And so to another song of a man about to meet his death. Only this time it’s MacHeath, otherwise known as Mack the Knife, facing execution for murder (or indeed several of them). Yes, it’s in German and it helps if you’ve seen the English translation, but it’s brilliant in anyone’s language I think. The Threepenny Opera, which it’s taken from, was written by Kurt Weill and Berthold Brecht and features the original, German version of Mack the Knife.
OK, you can call me a pretentious little tosser now - I asked for it.

Nope, not pretentious at all, and it kind of seeped into popular culture. And, it gives me an excuse to post this sublime example…
