šŸ”ˆ Site announcement: Things that we think you should know

Oh different colours. Why? Maybe to differentiate. Can i make pretty pictures with multiple users? Let’s see.

@ant @rallyboy @fatso @barry-sanchez @chertsey-saint @dinger @ericofarabia @flahute @gavstar @halo-stickman @intiniki

@anal1

Edit: Where have all the other colours gone?

I get that you can reference people but what’s the point in doing so @pap?

doesn’t even fucking work. Piece of shit.

OK, so I had to clear my chrome cache to get this to work properly.

It’s now working @pap .

Presumably we will, at some point, get to be notified if someone has mentioned us.

i.e.

@saintbletch wears cravats and blouses.

How’d you do that. I need to know.

What browser are you using, @fatso ?

Without wanting to sound like I come from League One - what exactly is the point of this exciting development?..

Just tried chrome. Didn’t work.

I’m still struggling with seeing the point in this, @pap (and, indeed, @saintbletch ). Will it make my life sweeter and more beautiful?

It means @fowllyd that people can mention you without quoting you, saving on screen real estate and having to scroll through a massive reply…

What is annoying is that you have to click on the name in the list you can’t just type the name.

In the future (whooa) we will be able to see, and perhaps, be notified when someone mentions us or quotes us.

In the same way that Facebook allows you (apparently) to tag people into posts and images and they then get notified, so @pap will do the same.

Fucking fourth rate web developers.

Can you try clearing the Cached Images and Files in Chrome settings and try again, @saint-or-sinner ?

That worked for me.

I don’t even know. I’m on my phone. I’m not bothered because I won’t be using this shit function

Yeah, how are you going to handle pet names, how is @coxford_lou ever going to get its proper place on the forum??

That is correct, sir. We put in the very basic plumbing today, but what plumbing it is.

The ā€œmentionableā€ concept will also not be tied to Sotonians users. We will shortly be adding off-Sotonians concepts, such as the football club, players, political parties, poster nicknames.

No other Saints site is doing this. Development on all other sites has been glacial for years. What we’ve put in today gives us the hooks for a lot of other things, and while I can understand @rallyboy and @fowllyd mightn’t appreciate the functionality in its infancy, I think everyone will be pleased with what it enables long term.

You can edit the tag after you’ve chosen the official name, @btripz .

If you were onto this, I’d never have beaten you to the punch addressing @coxford_lou as such.

There are rumours that the @pap in our midst will be producing an Also Known As section on profile pages, cataloguing the various monikers a poster has acquired.

Tried @saintbletch. Cleared it all but no success, even incognito(which i’m using now). Only using my phone so a strong chance the problem is me.

Back to Firefox for me.
