If itās not obvious from my posting history, I confront. Itās not a perfect strategy, and sometimes, confrontation really doesnāt bring resolution. Most of the times, it does work.
I know the word āconfrontā seems inherently aggressive, but it doesnāt have to be. I am not sure if youāve noticed, but Iāve spent the past fifteen months confronting most personal abuse with a remark along the lines of āpeople are probably more interested in the issue than they are about your opinions about meā.
Asking everyone to do the same is an impossible ask, I know. This is a forum. Drama is the format, but it would be nice if people considered having a private nuclear war before going for a public one. Saves the fallout.
I donāt want to see that either tbh.

In cold light of day and all that, it all seems fair and reasonableā¦ I would āargueā though that most spats do start on the most controversial /emotive topicsā¦ and whilst the drama may eventually unfold to be unpleasant for the bystanders, it is probably too much to ask to resist this when some deliberately light the touch paper?

Large flat pan
BIG KNOB of butter
DRIZZEL of olive oil
Add sliced potatoes (yellow waxy kind) to cover BOTTOM
Add sliced leeks
add finely chopped chilli
teaspoon of PAPrika
STIR
Add large glass of sweet wine
2 large glasses of fresh chicken stock
Salt and Pepper
Simmer until potatoes are cooked, then remove lid and reduce liquid
LAY fish ON TOP of veggies (any white fish will do, cod, haliBUTT, monkfish), add a few FRESH king prawns or Langoustines Replace lid and reduce heat to āsteam fishā
Serve in pan in middle of table with CRUSTY bread and a decent chilled Sancerre

Yep, and one of the problems with Barry was that he would bring those themes into threads where they really didnāt belong. If he could just stop doing that, Iād have him back tomorrow.
I genuinely wasnāt being antagonistic when I opined the lack of self-control, but then, people are always wankered here. Perhaps that ought to be factored in a bit more before the gavel goes down.
Sotonians aināt a contest. Diminished as we presently are, thereās still a lot of smart talk about the issues of the day that are not covered elsewhere, as there has always been.
Itās not a zero sum game, where someone has to fail for someone else to succeed. Brexit was as divisive here as it seemed to be everywhere else and weāve both had our part in making that happen.
Rome wasnāt built in a day, but I think weād achieve a lot if we stuck to the general principles of the site, which is there to inform and amuse, sometimes about Saints

I met Baz. I liked him. But on here he became a bore, a repetitive obnoxious bore.
Any trace of humour or even sarcasm that he may once have shown left over lockdown.
Maybe like many he struggled to find humour in diversity? No idea.
Did I fight his opinions? No, but they became boring the 100th time he posted the same thing in a thread.
You all have been a source of light through these dark days, banter or arguments or just the stupid side of life. I needed it I speak English to someone about once every two weeks, here I could chat shit. Yeah I lost it once, 1st & only time tbh but lesson learnt.
This is a community, we are all barking mad. Baz seemed to forget that.
Right now, I hope he recovers and does find a balance between being a bore and contributing.
It is a shame @pap had to act. Lockdown Baz needed to go.

forgot to add 1 sliced onion, plus a wee bit if saffron
Was good, but needed a few little shellfish fuckers or even some muscles. very good when you mix a bit of monkfish, cod and halibut
works really well because you steam the fish in the reduced veggie and chicken stock, yum yum yum.
I always make this on hols in France where the rustic bread is perfect and the Scottish Langoustines are 1/3 of the price they are up hereā¦

I made some comments about the golden days of football after a comment about Ian St John and Saint & Greavsie and he accused me of having a split personality and lacking continuity on the post? WTF?
