OK, that message means that Discourse thinks you have already started replying to that topic in another window.

I don’t think it’s a bug, I think it telling you exactly what it says…

It suggests that you have that topic open, and a reply drafted in another tab of the browser or on another device - computer, tablet, other phone, etc.

It doesn’t know which one of the replies you want to keep so asks you to make the decision.

Try shutting down closing all the tabs in the browser and reloading the page in a single tab.

If not then shut down the browser completely on the phone and re-load and try again.

It it persists, check any other devices that you might have used and close the tabs and re-load.

If it’s not that then log out and log back in again.

If it still persists I can log you out in a ‘special’ way but that can be a bit nuclear.

What happened?

Bertie the Twitter Bug Update

The Twitter bug is on my to-do list but to fix it Twitter needs to first give us developer access to their account. We’ve completed the ‘paperwork’ and yet they still won’t let us in.

@pap owns the Twitter account. I fill in the ‘paperwork’ and pester him for a week or so to see if we’ve been approved. He tells we we haven’t and that’s where we’ve got to.

Finally found the problem. I loaded Sotonians on my work phone a very low tech M1 with 1 byte of memory. Basically used it when was in Slivakian airspace in the mountains
Anyway yes a reply window was open on that device.
Case is solved

I’d be very wary @tigger of saying things like that on a forum of reprobates such as this. Having witnessed from afar the self deprivation and gay abandon so openly flaunted on this forum for the “world” to see, my advice is interfere with yourself, keep the doors locked and buy some bug spray …

Bertie the Twitter Bug Update

OK, so for me Bertie appears quite regularly, like @pap says though clicking on the twitter link (however onerous that is) does take you to twitter where you can see the video.

I have also found, recently, that refreshing the page also renders the videos.

I’m fairly confident we’re seeing a rate limit issue which means that every 15 minutes Twitter will give us more access to their servers until we trip the limit and then it will shut us out, until the 15 minutes is up and we get more capacity.

I think you’ll find that refreshing the page works IF, since the last refresh we’ve got some more capacity from Twitter. So refreshing the page is not the cure.

I’ll PM you and @pap about a wider problem we now have with YouTube links and a potential fix’ for both issues.

I’m trying a few things to fix our YouTube (and, perhaps, Twitter issues).

So, I’m testing a few things at the moment and it would be helpful if you

a) tried to post Tweets with embeded media and YouTube videos
b) don’t moan when it all goes to shit - as it invariably will

Also the site is likely to be up and down for short periods of time during the day.
