šŸ”ˆ Site announcement: Things that we think you should know

I think your GP or local STI clinic would be a better bet.

He’d have got Boj to do it, who’d then have redirected you to sites vile enough to make Savile blush.

Think your nearest webbed specialist would be at the Queen Alex hospital just east of you

We’ve implemented a time restriction on deleting and editing posts and threads.

If you want to delete or edit a post (including the first post of a thread you’ve started), you have 30 minutes to do so. After that time you won’t be able to make a change.

As much as I hate to admit it, this smart idea was actually Bear’s. So kudos to the kodiak.

If you miss the deadline but feel that it is important that a change be made to something you’ve posted, contact pap or me via PM and we’ll try to sort something out.

I’d just like to clarify something. bletch and I do all our admin under separate accounts, so we’ll be covered by this too.

And the lack of retroactive edit is fucking killing me :lou_lol:

Likewise. Lol.

They told me it would come to this but I thought they were just scaremongering.

The poster who refuses to select an avatar gets an ugly one forced upon them to make them act.

Is this how the little people who resfuse to conform get treated in Post-Brexit Britain?

You’ll be lifting the details of my phone and grading my stools next.

And now you change it back and disable editing.

It’s all gone a bit sinister…

Not disabled. Limited to 30 minutes. I am not precious about the edit threshold. Want me to up it to say, a day?

It would be good to be able to tweak a post written the previous night when you were hanging drunk

Ok, I’ve upped the edit thing to 24 hours to cover our largely and frequently inebriated demographic.

I think that’s a good idea, papster.

But, let’s just recognise what this might mean to the content here.

It could mean that threads created by someone can be removed completely by the creator of that thread for anything up to 24 hours after the rest of the membership has engaged with it.

We’ll have to recognise that either through ignorance of the way the site works or through malicious intent, we might lose content.

Delete is still 30 minutes, me ol’ mucker.

They are independent functions, so people can’t delete after 30 minutes, but could alter all their own posts from the last 24 hours. Full members on TSW can do that in perpetuity.

You don’t think anyone would actually do that, do you?

We’re covered regardless!

I’ve revamped the profile page (the thing you see when you click someone’s username).

It was dog slow before. Lights would start to flicker across the continent as it needlessly ploughed through every fucking point someone earned and loading every fucking post they have to get COUNTS!!!

I have used my second rate web developer skills to pep it up in terms of speed.

I have also added some favourites from TSW, as well as an entirely new feature which shows votes cast and received by each poster. The only bit of information that is now public that wasn’t before is ā€œdownvotes castā€. It’s just a total, though, and no-one seems to mind that we attribute downvotes in our yearly awards.

Everything else you could have gotten through the long laborious work of a man that likes to build a dossier. I’ve just made it easier for everyone.

I’ve also included some old faves such as posts per day, and some new ones like points per post.

Enjoy your new functionality responsibly.
