Props to @Bucks for predicting the result in The Stable and to Ralph for making the right substitutions at the right time.

Of course I should have backed my prediction with cash. But if I had done that all season I would be filing for bankruptcy. Fuck it, we won, all is good.
Shane fucking Long scored two fucking goals in two successive fucking games.
The sky is going to fall in, I tell thee.

Well, leaving aside Nathan Redmondās parentage, that was a decent performance and an excellent result. Barring a combination of results that would stretch anyoneās credulity, weāll be playing in the Premier League next season - pretty tricky to see Cardiff making up nine points on us over the course of five games (or eight points if they can also overturn a massive discrepancy in goal difference).
Wonderful to get such an early goal, though Wolves came at us pretty fiercely after conceding it. For a fair part of the first half I felt that we were lacking a little in composure in midfield - something that Romeu gives us in spades. Including Sims in the starting line-up (a great move in my view) meant leaving out someone, and you could see why Ralph chose Romeu to warm the bench; JW-P is on great form, and Hojbjerg is both indispensable and the captain to boot. But there were a good few occasions when we either overdid the first-time passes, or tried an over-ambitious through ball, with the ball ending up in Wolvesā possession as a result. We fixed that as the game went on, getting our passing going much better - but when Romeu did come on you could see the value of having him in the team.
I thought the back three were good today - a few squeaky moments, but Wolves are a very good side, in seventh place on merit, and youād expect them to cause any team some problems. Midfield worked OK after some early flakiness (as mentioned above) and the front three were really good. Ings was less effective and influential than the other two, but he came into the game more as it went on. Redmondās second goal was a peach - lovely pass and a sublime little dink over the keeper.
Excellent double substitution by Ralph, as Ings was tiring and Sims had done an awful lot of running. Long gave us a fresh pair of legs, plus of course a wonderful comedy goal. I really didnāt see exactly what happened in the lead-up to that, but it looked like a series of ricochets, with Long eventually left unmarked and in the clear, with the keeper floored from an earlier dive. Romeu was a calm and steadying influence in midfield, and I thought Stevens did OK at right back when he came on, though he didnāt have too much time to fuck things up.
Playing entertaining, attacking football; scoring more than one goal in a game; making use of our young players; winning against the big clubs; making me (and I bet plenty of others) really enjoy watching Saints again. Ralph Hasenhuttl, we love you.
Agree with pretty much all of that. I thought Valery was our weak link today. Caught out of position too often. Heās fine going forward but is a work in progress defensively. Definitely a position where Iād look to strengthen over the summer.
