I only saw brief highlights but I’d say he was unnecessarily culpable for the third goal. 5 Saints players in the box, 2 Wolves players. Just step off the six yard line and mark the bloody striker and you prevent a piss easy goal. Basic shit as far as I’m concerned.
That said, there was a handball on the halfway line by Traore (?) in the build up to that goal which VAR should have picked up on.
With that and the penalty decision I suppose we were due some VAR shit go against us.
Well, Long scoring was a surprise.
But Traore tearing us a new one was so predictable.
Shame VAR got the handball so badly wrong. Thought at the time it was a very quick decision.
But the fact was that at 2-0 fans & players got complacent. Our system needs 112% not 110%.
Lesson learned Palace will be a tough ask…
We cant seem to control powerfull opposition. Im thinking its our midfield where the biggest problem is Our captain needs an upgrade. JWP is playing much better now he has gone at bit coke crazy but with Hoiberg seemily snorting the same stuff and losing his touch and all his obvious intelligence everytime he gets on the grass it puts to much emphasis and pressure on our poor Jack. Benerak is nowhere near good enough to compensate as we have done in the past with one very good CB and one just alright
We’re lucky its a wank league and there are shitter teams than us, other than Liverpool (I’ve said this before but the punters on here don’t agree) this League is wank.
In fairness most teams cannot handball Traore’s power and pace. I heard a few weeks ago that 25 players have been booked this season by fouling him. That number is probably higher now.
If I can do the screen grabs I’ll share the average positions of the players.
What they show is that the Wolves front three played really narrow which overloaded our centrebacks. Then we were obviously dealing with too much pace against the wrong players.
I think we were done over in the second half by some cute tactics and as @Goatboy said above the two goal advantage probably flattered us.
A change of formation to a back three might have helped protect the lead but no manager would have assumed they’d come back like they did and we definitely didn’t have the bench to play defensively yesterday.
I have no time for Liverpool at all, I cringe at the telly clappers and day trippers up here, sometimes you have to admit it, they’re good, very good, that doesn’t mean I like them does it?
I don’t and its laughable you think I do.
Whilst you’ve avoided the site because we’ve been winning, we’ve been on a great run.
Don’t know if you missed it.
But playing as a team and being supported by the fans has allowed our team to win - including those defenders that you call garbage.
We could do with better players in every position, but it turns out that if you get the tactics right, everyone plays in the correct positions, does their job and enjoys the support of the fans then even Southampton can climb the league.
Play your part mate.
Don’t be a follower, turn you back on your beloved Liverpoo FC and support Saints.
I’ve never followed Liverpool and have always followed Southampton (bar a child United faze), I never will, where have I ever given that impression?
You’re just swinging.
Another lesson to b e taken from that for Ralph.
Nunes changed tactics, Ralph didn’t react.
And showed we don’t have the range of Power in our players.
We out-ran Leicester (and could do the same to scousehampton/spurs. But the likes of Wolves (and Watford) who set up with fast big and powerful MF’s then we have always struggled
