:pl: :saints: Saints v Burnley :burnleyfc: (live on BT)

Bit shite is correct. Passing, no movement and generally lethargic

We missed Redmond and in hindsight losing Boufal was a blow.

Djenepo was crap.

I’m off to have a shower and wash the last two hours away.

Mccarthy is not a sideways saving goalkeeper either

This isn’t good news

Horrible afternoon, except for the last hour or so spent in the company of @Goatboy and a couple of his mates in the Unity Tap Room.

Annoying that we bossed the game for the most part, yet still scored one to their two; annoying that we gifted them the first goal (by all accounts - I got in late and missed it, which I guess goes down on the plus side); annoying that Boufal, who was causing them problems, went off injured; double annoying that Djenepo, his replacement, played like the Redmond that we knew and griped about incessantly a couple of seasons ago; annoying that Vestergaard played and not Bednarek (struggling to understand that one); annoying that we created more than enough chances to have won that game, but didn’t take them; annoying that a clear penalty (or at least that’s how it looked to me) wasn’t given; doubly annoying that the decision was confirmed by VAR; triply annoying that the VAR decision took all of 10 seconds to be made. All in all, then - arse, double-arse and triple-arse.

We were comfortably the better team throughout the first half, and in the second half until they scored their second. After that we looked pretty shite to be honest, bar a few flickers of decent play.

Great goal from Ings though, and I liked the sub of Obafemi for Walker-Peters, rather than simply taking off Long. Didn’t work in the end, but we threatened more after that. We also looked rather more vulnerable, but we were chasing the game and sometimes that’s just what you have to do.

Ultimately though, arse.

It appears I was right to get drunk on a Saturday afternoon and miss this.

I watched it on bt sport. The taters mentioned what I’ve suggested before, including after the spurs cup game, which is that oppo teams have worked out that our pressing game leaves us vulnerable in the last 15 - 20. So they keep their foot off the gas while we huff and puff, hope to contain us, then hit the throttle at the end where the points are nesting. Burnley seemed poor first half, but very, very dangerous towards the end of the game.

Next up … Arston Villa … I think we all know how that’s going to pan out don’t we boys and girls!!

Jesus, I thought this game was lunchtime today! Missed the whole thing. It’s been a busy few days!

Be thankful … you missed the square root of fuck all basically!!
So predictable, playing Burnley of all teams in horrible wet and windy conditions.

That’s not strictly true. Danny Ings demonstrated that he is much better in the opposition penalty area than our own!
