:saints:🕴 Saints' next manager

Hello Bolshie. Awesome username and awesome first post. A few tips if you are to fit in here. No need to be so intelligent and erudite. Also need to use the word “cunt” liberally. Follow these guidelines and you will be fine. Oh, and don’t mention Brexit!

Agree that i’m not seeing the same quality available from the academy. If you look at the kind of players from our academy who made it big after Bridge they were all exceptional physical specimens.

Walcott was exceptional from day one and a remarkable sprinter. Bale had a growth spurt and incredible stamina. Chamberlain was built like a young rooney. Shaw again had a growth spurt and turned into a bit of a beast.

We seem to be back to producing talented but underdeveloped midgets like ben reeves and averagely talented athletes like blackstock and best.

Hopefully some of our talented kids will surprise us and have late growth spurts.

I guess everyone has a barren spell every now and then and, prehaps, we’ve just been spoiled over recent years.

If JWP, Reed and Targett fill in the gaps between some real quality, it’s all good, but Losing Mane in particular is a big talent to replace.

As JWP bulked up a bit last season and put his boot in, I’m beginning to wonder if he might eventually play the same role he did for England U21s just in front of the defence.

I said a few times last season that I thought that’s where he’d end up.

Just been confirmed Nathan Redmond has just signed a 5 year contract. Cost 10 million great price. Don’t think for one moment he has come as a replacement. All we need now is for the man in charge to be confirmed too.

Why’d you have to bring that up you cunt!?

Thanks Jack, happy to hear more as still think majority of what you have passed on has been on point… Just be good if all this could be sorted sooner rather than later. MP would have been such a statement… Puel really doesn’t excite me at all. After being stitched over by the Lying Dutchman to have made a statement signing of MP’s stature would have been such a welcome thing to happen. Ah well, guess we have to trust the board to get it right. We still have Europa, the prem and cup games to look forward too. Don’t mind Vic going but would love to see Mané, Tadic and Long stay.

agree keep it up jack but i think we will lose mane and that is a pity

It will be a big test of his and our ‘ambition’. Mane was one of the two my source said we were in contract negotiations with that were “a bit further down the pipe line” [ie, not one of the first two, Davis, or the next soon to be announced]. We were quite hopeful after Koeman went that we had a better chance of keeping Mane. We know that we turned down Liverpool’s opening derisory offer, but if they do come back and flash the £40 mil valuation we have of him, will be interesting to see what the board do with that, and whether or not Sadio will want to leave for no European football but bigger wages. Will be great if he does sign the new contract though, and be a real statement of intent.

Sadly i think that in the real world, when it comes down to a choice between no European football or an extra 50 grand a week for the next four years there will only be one winner. Sad but true. I would love to be proved wrong of course, but i won’t be holding my breath.

It’s interesting that business just goes on as usual despite the lack of manager…

A lesson for other clubs who just chuck money at star names and ignore the actual structure around them.

Got to love “The Southampton Way” :)) still amazes me though the number of Saints fans who have not realised and better yet embraced the way we do business as that would stop half the bedwetters having soggy mattresses. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am beginning to think that most of them still get soggy mattresses as they are not yet old enough for potty training.

Half past ten Sunday morning in the Philippines and All on my todd

Just watched Klinsmann’s USA lose to Columbia in the 3rd place playoff Concaf cup they looked a team devoid of ideas after going behind and only Howard kept them in the match.

If that is what he can do with a pool of 100 million potential players what is he going to do with the 40 odd he would get at little old Southampton.

Thing is, everyone can see how shite USA are except the USA FA. I suppose the old adage is true, just because someone was an exceptonal player, that doesn’t make them an exceptional manager. That case is more than proven in JK’s case, and probably why I shit a brick when I saw the bookies slashing his odds. lol

Breaking news on sky. Puel in talks with saints…no shit Sherlock
