:saints:šŸ•“ Saints' next manager

Anyone else got any under the radar names(maybe a manager at the euros) and any views on Toral?

Only that it looks like he’s still under contract and of the candidates we tend to see mentioned, only Vitor appears to be under contract.

edit: I forget Eddie Howe.

I’d be pretty happy with Pellegrini.

I think any manager that we hire will have to commit to this new 5 year plan, not sure Pellegrini would be around in the game for that much longer…

The more I see of Vitor Pereira, the more I like him - however not sure if he is on the list or not.

Pellegrini may look like a shrivelled ball sack but he is a couple of years younger than Ranieri.

This is what i find strange. Do the bookies think we’re that noble(tight) that we won’t go for a better candidate just because we might have to give another club a couple of the Everton millions. If so why is there not more talk about national managers that’ll be out of a job very soon? I’m still going with the JS comment about keeping the availability quiet(I will probably look very stupid when we find out).

It’s not just the bookies. The ITKs keep offering the names of managers who are unattached

Wolfsburg’s Heckling?

Shamelessly nicked from Strongarms over at the other place:

Are you Pellegrini’s agent, Goaters? Is this how he applies for all of his jobs?

Underpromise by looking like a ballsack. Over deliver by being better at managing a football team than a ballsack?

It’s a very canny arrangement, if so.

Being that 60 is the new 40 Pellegrini at 62 is a promising young manager…and I’m barely approaching middle age. :lou_lol:

There’s a bit more to him than looking like an elderly sharpei’s pissflaps but it’s not a bad tactic.

Afternoon all - see a lot of the usual suspects and some old and missed names.

as to new manager - liked the reports about Garcia but sounds as if it’s not to be. Which leaves pellegrini in the frame - not a bad one. His record stands up against some of the best. Think in some ways the job at MCFC is a but if a strange one - the expectation and the size of the club now is such that you are constantly under the spotlight from both outside and in. To me that means he would not have had the freedom to just concentrate on football - none of that would apply at saints. I think he’d do well at saints and tbh I have to pinch myself that we are even being mentioned in the same breath - hat to me really does bring it home how far we have come in such a short time.

anyway like I say afternoon all

If VW goes to spuds, then they will miss him for at least 6 games if not more as he has a habit of getting himself sent off. Just feel Oriol Romeu will be a much better player this new season and although he goes in hard he tends to do so fairly. He also works harder which Victor does not. Our players seem more happy now RK has left. Would not be surprised to see more sign extensions.

I’ll miss Vic. He picked up a few suspensions last season but he’s not a dirty player. Clumsy but not dirty.

I think we’ll cope without him but would rather he stayed.

VW is very much the back line Hoover of our team but think that if he wants to go let him, I don’t like how the press make much of his sulking :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Oriol and Jordy will be fine, that’s if Jordy is staying of course, we also have the terrier Reed coming through and maybe sign one more as back up. Who I have no idea…
