:saints:🕴 Saints' next manager

The only thing I heard about De Boer was in our original talk, and he was said to be on our list, but not in the top few due to not having yet had the opportunity to prove his methods at more than one club. I wasn’t given any indication that he has since moved up into that top three, but maybe that has changed since the first info I got last week.

What do they say? Do you promise not to say one thing on Sky Sports and then leave a few weeks later! In the end we are at the mercy of market forces

Sorry mate, I forgot your reply.

It was inferring that there is a recruitment system in place, which is constantly updated and ready to roll at a moments notice. As soon as it is triggered by something [like RK going back on his word for example] – the process kicks in. In other words, even when we were expecting RK to sign a new deal, we already knew our favoured candidates to replace him, and could get straight on with working towards that end.

So there was no panic, no “oh shit, now we need a new manager!”, as we already knew exactly who we wanted to speak with, no need to start suddenly scouring for candidates, as all had been meticulously researched. All that was needed was to pick up the phone.

Very glad to have found out about this site, refreshing not to see constant back and forth bitching in the comments, I think I will enjoy my time here :lou_smiley:

First time poster here am very impressed by what I’ve seen so far - you lot seem an interesting mix and can manage a debate without it turning into bitching, which is unusual and refreshing…I’ll probably enjoy visiting.

Oh, and seeing as this thread is about our next manager, I’m hoping for Garcia as he seems to be just the type of character we’re looking for - great pedigree, gets results and should help the academy lads come through also. I’ve got a few quid on him at 4/1 so selfishly I hope he gets the job

Ok thanks for comment and keep it coming Jack. Good to get the snippets

The hard life of the Journalist. The long hours, the liquid lunches, those funny hats with a press card tucked in the band. All that effort, and you miss your deadline, and the Telegraph beats you to the Exclusive Scoop.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, Jack. No-one reads the Telegraph anyway.

Great to see you on here Dohamike hope all is well over in WC land!

And again thanks for the (belated) updates Jack, now if you don’t mind, having solved Koemangate for us fans, can you get your ass back to work and sort out Syria?

Cheers

Don’t worry Jack, I hadn’t read the Telegraph article either.

Reading you post out to my wife yesterday afternoon however she did say, “sounds like a press release…that could have come from The Telegraph for all we know” :lou_wink_2:

I told her to stop being so cynical.

Keep it coming, we the less cynical enjoy being kept one step ahead. :lou_lol:

Claude Puel is the mystery man according to K Billy

Not someone that automatically gets the spine tingling to be honest but the black box hasn’t done much wrong.

apart from this

Thanks for the info Jack. I love the idea that your “Deep Throat” and other ITKers are competing with each other to get inside info out! :lou_wink_2:

if I were being cynical and posting on SWF, I’d be saying that the club are keen to leak information to people like jack and k billy so that we are forearmed with information about managers most normally wouldn’t have heard of. Posters research into these managers, say they’re a great fit , play lovely football, use youth and when the appointment is made we’re all happy. I’m not saying that’s what’s happening (but that is what’s happening).

Welcome Emoticon! Any bitchiness can be negated by buying a round at matchday meet-ups :lou_wink_2:

Garcia would be an excellent appointment. FdB would be decent enough and after that it’s “meh”.

Loving TSW at the moment, especially the contributions from CBF. He is currently getting his panties in a bunch over the concept of “mystery men” whilst also trying to convince peope that the next manager will be Deschamps! As he would say “comedy gold.”

Claud Puel managerial profile, doesn’t exactly set the world alight.

Played for Monaco all his career and went on the manage their youth and main teams.

He’s taking the piss and doing it beautifully.

Would agree about Deschamps, but he did seem to get genuinely shirty about the whole “mystery man” thing at one point.

NOt cynical at all, IMHO., but nail on head. In some respects its just good ‘customer management’ - The club want to have the fanbase embrace their decsions - they are smart enough ti know how some fans can get antsy about indecision or even no decision… so snitppet are leaaked to test the water, but also to prepare the ground as you say. The only risk involved is if there is a very negative repsonse - to all choices and one has to work…but at least club is forwarned.

Warming to this Garcia dude, even though he looks like a hit man!
