:saints:🕴 Saints' next manager

Well, that cerainly chimes with what Jack was told. Of course, the original source is likely to be the same one way or another, so I guess it’s hardly surprising that they concur.

Sounds like a good choice except he spells his name wrong.

Or…

I don’t see Sergio signing this weekend, he’s busy in Oakmont…

and even if he agrees to the job he needs to take two holidays before signing the paperwork.

He needs to be in another job first, about to sign an improved contract, so that he can use our offer to try to get a better deal where he is.

Just discovered this site and signed up. Without doubt the best i have seen regarding all things Saints, some really good info on this particular thread. I must own up and confess that although i am a Saints fanatic of 40 years standing i currently reside in Liverpool! Most of my close mates are Evertonians so as can be imagined there have been some interesting conversations over the past week or so! I will add that not all of them are 100% happy with the Koeman appointment, especially the way it was done. Of course i have been throwing in some nuggets from the excellent Jack Schitt posts which puts them on the back foot every time. Interestingly a few are very wary regarding their ‘Iranian saviour’, especially the source of his money. More than a few stories out there with murmurs about UN sanction breeches. What a shame it would be if he turned out to be a pig in a poke and Ronald was left high and dry, with no recourse to his 7 million pieces of silver!

Welcome Nottarf Krap.

Believe it or not, we’ve got two other Liverpool residents among our number, myself included.

We welcome all kinds of deep-seated secondhand Everton paranoia here. Keep it up :lou_lol:

Flying visit on lunch, so must be quick.

Had a brief chat on the phone with my friend/club contact last night. I recorded it [with permission], as aparrently I missed a few bits out last time. :lou_eyes_to_sky: Wasn’t given any direct answers to most of my precise questions, but I learnt the following:-

On Rudi Garcia, as his name is now “out there” and hot favourite with the bookies:

He is one of the two previously intentionally un-named favourite candidates my friend spoke of. He has been on our radar for quite a while, along with a number of other names [which comprise our ever-evolving managerial watch-list]. The selected names I was given were to indicate the brand of football and style of play we are looking to implement. An “outline sketch of what playing The Southampton Way looks like to us”.

My friend would not be drawn on whether Rudi is the favourite, but rather described him as “very highly rated by the Board, and in with as good a chance as another two very high calibre candidates”.

So it sounds like we are down to a “top three”.

I asked if “very high calibre” necessarily equates to very well known, and the reply was -

“That depends upon how well you know football, and your understanding of the kind of candidates who would fit the profile we are looking for, to align with and fully integrate into the DNA of the Club. If your knowledge and understanding is broad, you would be very excited, and say ‘what a perfect match’. If you just watch Match of the Day, you might be scratching your head.”

I asked if any decisions have been made, and how soon can we expect an appointment?

"If they have, that information has not reached me yet. I know that the Board have [or at least had] three “directions” under consideration. By that, I mean three candidates considered equally excellent choices – that mesh nicely with the footballing philosophy of our Club, yet each candidate would bring a different interpretation of how best to use the raw materials provided to work with. Look upon it as three alternative pathways [A,B and C], that lead to the same destination [D], but would take us there via slightly different directions.

Ultimately, the decision is one of the nature of the scenery we prefer to enjoy along the next stage of our exciting journey, as a progressive and innovate Football Club, whilst employing an attractive attacking brand of high energy football.

As for timescale, this Board is nothing if not meticulous in scrutinising every crucial detail. Nothing will be left to chance. They are never rushed, and always calmly in control. Having said that, we have advanced significantly on course on a process that has been ongoing for longer than you might imagine. The process itself is already regularly updated and in place. It simply requires the necessary triggers to set it into motion. So there is never any panic.

It has been a busy few days, and we have already spoken with our preferred candidates, by one means or another. What remains for the Board to decide, is whether they already have enough information to make an appointment – or if they wish to speak again in further detail with any of our candidates first. I am not yet in possesion of this knowledge.

Nothing like a little suspense and intruigue, is there? I mischeviously enjoy that. But if I were you, I wouldn’t be too keen to let go of my hat. Unless it’s an asshat of course. Letting go of those is always for the best, in the long run."

I typed this all up last night, I’ve slept on it, and now spent the last few hours deciding if I should even post this. The kind of thing that makes you look a complete knob if something greatly to the contrary happens. I mean, after reading all that, imagine if we went and appointed Manuel Pellegrini ?! I.e. someone that anyone who knows football even at all would have heard of.

I even mentioned my hesitations to my friend. They did not do anything to allay my concerns.

“Fun, isn’t it? Decisions decisions.”

I know this is laughably odd for the usual kind of so called “ITK” post, but in the end I decided to honour that which has been passed on in good faith “as is” [rather than just posting the directly Saints related bits] – as then you can decide for yourself what to make of it all, and what level of credence you choose to give it.

You already know that I’m at least slightly insane [even if as yet not proven clinically] from our regular interactions. How much worse could you think of me? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: And as you can see – the source of this information is probably equally questionable in that regard. I’m sure they would not mind my saying so.

But for me, I trust them, and even whilst reeking in “Club PR” – they have passed on some interesting insights into our selection process, even if not really helping greatly to narrow anything down with specifics that can be judged in retrospect. So I offer it for what it’s worth, and let’s see what happens.

If I end up looking like a twat, then at least you finally know what to do for my badge, Pap. :lou_wink_2:

“You know nothing, Jack Schitt”, ought to do it. Or if it doesn’t break forum rules – simply a picture of a massive hairy muff should suffice.

Thanks Jack, all good stuff.

I do wonder how the board mange this “…this Board is nothing if not meticulous in scrutinising every crucial detail. Nothing will be left to chance. They are never rushed, …”

What do they say? Do you promise not to say one thing on Sky Sports and then leave a few weeks later! In the end we are at the mercy of market forces

Thanks Jack, and if it is any consolation for your immense efforts, when dipping into the admin panel today to sign up yet another member drawn in by your interesting Schitt, I noticed that this thread, despite being in the buds of youth, is Sotonians all time most viewed.

47K in total, as of this morning.

Of course, I’ve just whored the latest out on Twitter, so it could well break the 100K.

I’m going to post it on Sotonians Facebook before the mushBIBLE beats us to another exclusive.

Thanks Jack appreciate the info. Is FdB still one of the 3

Cheers for your efforts Jack.

wtf is a rudy garcia?

Sorry guys, looks like I screwed up, and not sure if/when I’m going to get any more info. :lou_facepalm_2:

Friend isn’t too happy with me.

Just been told that apparently there was a Telegraph article about an hour before I posted that mentioned some of what I shared, in particular in confirming Rudi, and inferring being down to a final three.

I was given all this last night at 10:45pm, and it was meant to be a “scoop” for me/my friend, that would later be confirmed/backed up by some of the details that would then emerge today in this piece that my contact knew was due to be coming out. I was supposed to post mine first, to gain in info-credibility, not after and be open to insinuations I just got information from there.

Fuck sake. I could have posted it last night, but decided to sleep on it. Could have posted it at 6:30 this morning when I got up, but was still unsure about looking a twat if it turned out to not happen. Thought it over at work and decided to post at lunch. Too late. Some of it is already out, and defeated the object of me being given the info last night. Should have just trusted my instincts [and my friend] from the start.

From our very brief conversation tonight, I get the impression there is a “friendly ITK war” going on at SMS.

My friend wanted their info out first before the media released it, but I have let them down. Sorry my friends. :lou_sad:

If it is any consolation, I feel like a complete cunt.
