:saints:šŸ•“ Saints' next manager

I’ve been catching up with the SWF reaction. It’s actually pretty good with some very sensible posts, but those posts are from people I’ve never seen post on there before. I think this highlights that the majority of fans on forums are sensible people but SWF is dominated by a handful of incredibly irritating and stupid posters who have an opinion on everything even when they have no idea what they’re talking about. Those posters who are constantly on the main board moaning about something are also in the lounge sharing political opinions. Some people just want to type something, regardless of their knowledge on the topic. Basically, well done SWF silent people for speaking up and being imminently sensible in response to Koeman leaving.

Fuck, you found me out… :lou_surprised:

I don’t know Dohamike.

I’ve worked with a lot of Dutch people and they remind me of pap - they can have an argument in a vacuum.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t have much to do with each other, but I would expect Toffee Ron’s brother to head there too.

There are reports on Twitter that the deal for Erwin is being finalised and he’ll join his brother tomorrow.

It would have made for very awkward family christmasses had he not gone.

Just don’t say anything Shane!

All done then. :lou_lol:

We got what we wanted from Everton, and the ā€˜asshat’ got ā€˜Dusty Bin’.

Now to the future, and back to ā€œThe Southampton Wayā€.

Looks like a lot of the information passed on was accurate, from the terse and pointed Official statement, and the contracts for Erwin and Jan still unconfirmed.

Had a text from my friend last night:

"Hey. Loved your write-up, great timing, and travelled well. Thanks. Should be an exciting few weeks ahead. Will have to catch up again soon.

So hopefully we may get further interesting snippets in the future. :lou_wink_2:

I hope your contact in the club’s PR department gave you a cut of his or her payrise.

Even in that Mirror article there is a hint as to why RK may struggle at Everton.

ā€œRKā€ is keeping tabs on…

Don’t give a toss who comes or goes. What we must keep is the Black Box set up. Being a process not personalities we never blinked when we lost Paul Griffiths (?) & that is what Everton won’t have.

Echo thinks we are still signing Redmond, manager or no manager. Big club mentality then :lou_lol:

Bah, the Mirror is making mountains out of molehills.

ā€œProgress your careerā€ could mean anything. All of those players we let go as we rose through the league progressed their career, but it doesn’t mean they all went to better clubs.

Yeah, but it normally means, going on to better things. I still for the life of me can only see a pay packet as the only reason for the move. He would have been better off saying ā€œHe has done really well for me at Southampton and I wish him all the bestā€. This just sounds like, come and get me! Again, but why? He gets to play in Europe with us, none of this football stuff makes any sense anymore!

It’s just a story spun by the Mirror in favour of their new glossy columnist, one Ronnie ā€œMoneybagsā€ Koeman. I wouldn’t read too much into it. Schlong had a terrific last 6 months, partially because others were injured, but before that he’d been intermittently used by Koeman, who appeared to rate Pelle more. A sizeable chunk of saints fans (not me, i’ve always liked him) wouldn’t have been fussed to see Shane leave last summer, but his stock has risen sharply this year, so if he did want to go, we should get good money for him (although i don’t know how long he’s left on his contract?)

With the budget RK has at Everton, whether or not he keeps Lukaku they will surely be aiming higher than SL (much as I like him) so if he goes there, he risks being a part time player all over again. Flip side of course is whether our new manager gets the best out of him but no doubt Les and others will make sure the new guy is very aware (if not already!) I hope SL stays, he is in the best form of his life

Standard tabloidism.

Ask a question and shoehorn the answer into the agenda you have decided upon.

Shane has said nothing more than a polite farewell to his old boss - there is nothing to see here, move along.

Even if he’d said ā€œI can’t understand why, or give a flying fuck where the deluded ginger haired two faced douche bag goes, he’s just a lying coniving #asshat biding his time till a proper job comes alongā€ … they’d have managed to twist it around!!

And now we’ve had to move our home game against Everton because they are involved in the Europa League.

Oh hang on, no it’s us that’s in Europe, they’re just doing their hair that night.

So, I know it is a long shot, but I would love it if we somehow snaffled Emery at this late stage - given that he gave Everton the finger and they had to go for their second choice

I strongly suspect it will depend on who comes in. Managers seem to have a team that follow them around, an Assistant and often a Fitness Coach they like.

I reckon this is probably why every single manager in history talks about getting the players fit when they take on a new job. Surely the fitness of players can’t be that bad everytime a managerial change takes place?

Sure I understand that - more meant it along the lines of ā€˜if he stays’ then its a home run for JS and his source pretty much

Is it my imagination or was Redmond the chap whose family member basically leaked on twitter that he was joining southampton a few years ago and then everything shut down?

Happy to see a continuation of bringing pace to our front line if true.
