:saints:šŸ•“ Saints' next manager

After reading Jacks conversation I bloody hope he doesn’t. Gutted for Matt Targett. Want to get our club back on track.

That’s a fair point. I was purely thinking about the the impact on everton fans as it dawns on them there not quite the draw they think they are.

I am with you on this. I have been a big supporter of Ron over the last two years and he has done a brilliant job for us. But the last few weeks have shown a side of Ron I dont care for. Time for both him and the club to move on and as SS says, time for us to get back on track.

OK  I’ll settle for him going on a years gardening leave in disgrace, we get a decent manager and Everton self distructing in a cloud of their own self indulgence

fk off Koeman has Sacrificed Himself for Our Champions League Ambitions, and paid the ultimate price. The Lord said unto Him, Lo, you must leave the sainted lands and go to Everton, and ur suffering will be the greatest lesson of all. In many ways, he is the Ultimate Saint RIP. Think he’ll be back by Easter tho srs

Still way to go before Koeman to Everton announced. Never know , but indications are confirmation in next couple of days is unlikely #efc

Back to new managers, apparently Alan Pardew is being thrown into the mix by Laurie Mac, this quote is attributed to him int his article at ESPNfc

It is worth remembering many of the players who led Saints from the third tier into the Premier League via back-to-back promotions were signed by Pardew [true] and in captain Jose Fonte, the Crystal Palace manager would have a big ally in the dressing room should he opt to return.

Doesn’t quite tally with the rumours around the reason why Pardew departed!!

Anyway read the rest of the article, it actually confirms a lot of what JS said earlier, unless they are using JS as their sauce now.

Playing catch up on this thread, been in pubs constantly for most of the for the last 48 hours, so have to add my thanks to Jack S. Absolutely golden content from a poster who regularly posts gold. Much appreciated! :lou_lol:

Only one slight caveat to all this (which I offer by way of balance) … I am not in anyway criticising or challenging Jack’s account, but is it not always the way that after someone has indicated they are off or want to go, its very dfficult to find folk that have ā€˜good’ things to say about them. As we have see in the past with with Poch and even Pardew, the moment they decide they are off, anything good they have done is forgotten and only the crap is ā€˜leaked’ or discussed… positives achievements are ā€˜photoshopped’ out…

We ALL have good and bad points, and Koeman will be no different. All of what JS has stated may be perfectly and 100% true, but Koeman might argue that it was necessary if we were to improve to 7th and 6th despite the annual sales…

My POV is that what this friend of JS’s has said is everyting fans 'ā€˜want to hear’ and the small tiny cynic in me does become a little sceptical when only one POV is presented.

Koeman is in all likelihood, a bit of a cunt, and has done things his way , maybe against what he has promied Les… but it has worked. We as fans are often very quick to forget that. We just dont like it when someone prefers something else over saints?

…gets flak jacket ready :lou_surprised:

Whay Gay? You are prefectly right of course, we’ve all read Jack’s post as spin from the club and Jack has even admitted that he may have been used for this case, despite the chance encounter.

All (the best) managers can be arseholes at time, re SAF kicking a boot at Beckham so I have no problem with RoKo dressing Sam down in front of everyone (Take the criticism on board and get on with it).

RoKo has also proved that he can be tactically astute if he needs to be. However I think that he got lucky after Christmas with the injury to Pelle and having to play Long, he was basically forced to change the way we play and it worked out well!

I think though there has been some deviation from the ā€œSouthampton Wayā€ as he doesn’t see the kids as good enough, and that may well be the case. Les Reed, I think, sees the kids as a means to get more money into the club. Don’t forget we have also deviated from our desire to have at least 50% English players in the team!!

There are probably some deep seated football philosophy differences betwen RoKo and Les that can’t be resolved.

However, and in saying all that, the way RoKo has appeared to go about this while business and try and force the club’s hands has shown a side of him that I don’t paticularly like. If you don’t want to leave the club then don’t accept an offer from another Club, it might just come back and shoot you.

Rather like phoning Sky up trying to get a new deal by threatening to move to Virign only to have Sky say, ā€œthanks, bye!!ā€

I’m not going to castigate RoKo for wanting more money, we all would jump at that chance, but I am going to castigate him for being devious about it!

Thing is BT, has RK actually accepted an offer from another club? we have not had any offical confirmationon any of this. In addition, One man’s ā€˜forcing clubs hand’ is anothers’ playeing hard ball’ which we like when its our club holding out on a player sale etc, but not when its happening to us…all normal of course.

The thing that I find a challenge, is why it at times seems not acceptable to challenge the club under such circumstances. RK may well be the ā€˜guilty’ one in all this, but should wenot also ask, if the the clubs approach is a contributory factor?

There is a huge amount of common sense in the clubs approach to develping youth and the way we have in the past looked to integrate these into the side, but could it be the case that the current crop are just not as good as previous? and the pressure to maintain our progress despite big name sales, meant RK needed to take a different path?

I simply have no clue where the truth lies, but suspect its somewhere in the middle. I think it may well be a clash of desired strategies, and thus the best solution was a single year contact extension to avoid the lame duck year… with both parties knowing teh next seaosn would be the last… but Everton offer threw a spanner in the works, thats all.

My question is whether the Clubs strategy (les’s?) is enough to see us grow as a club, or whether its a means to just be a stable talent farm…? If the latter, willtaht be enogh to attract teh kind of talented managers and players we would like to see?

The GOT forum is providing some great reading at the moment…

From arrogant swagger, confident that RK was in the bag, to nervous twitching that they shouldn’t have been quite so quick to dismiss Jack’s post as total tosh.

The longer this drags out, the funnier it becomes.

Having seen interviews with Matt Targett I doubt he even realised he was being bollocked.

It’s calming down a little bit because one of their regular ITKs has just weighed in saying all is cool, not to panic, and the deal will be done either tomorrow afternoon or Weds morning.

They’ve probably read Jack’s post and are asking ā€œwhat’s all this, then?ā€ :lou_sunglasses:

there’s a lot of talk about pelle and koeman falling out. I thought they were the best of buddies having worked together in previous clubs and with koeman basically turning him into a successful player. I’m sure pelle wasn’t happy about being dropped, but koeman stuck by him for a lot longer than other managers would have done and then it became almost impossible to drop long. I’m doubting reports of a fall out between those two.

Long was interviewed by the bbc last night for the euros and it was upsetting to hear him talk glowingly about and how RK had helped him become better. FFS, Shane…dont you understand that we all hate him now and so should you?

Laying the ground work for a ā€œDream Moveā€ to that massive club that won the league the year he was born.

Shane runs with his bum pushed out and I don’t like that.

Gosh Gay, you are being contrary today aren’t you :lou_is_a_flirt: :lou_is_a_flirt:

To answer your first question, despite nothing offical, I do believe that RoKo has accepted an offer ā€œin principalā€ from Everton it’s now down to his new agent to sort out the finer details.

And the latter part of your post I can’t overly disagree with.
