No most are born with common sense, burning books next to eradicate our more horrible parts of our history, most nations in fact every one will be burning books for an awful long time.
Lets who is without sin and all that.
That’s quite right, Barry. Newborn infants are born with common sense. Just last week, a baby flew out a womb in Princess Anne’s hospital, and immediately reprimanded a nearby tradesman for putting a shelf up without using a spirit level.
When I was born I immediately insisted the midwife put a slip/trip warning sign in the room.
I was told this as obviously I have no recollection being just born and all…
A good tradesman would eye it…
This was for the book burners that want to eradicate certain parts of our history, I take it?
Your innate common sense would surely have prevented you from tripping and slipping.
And the fact you couldn’t yet walk.

Sound judgment not based on specialized knowledge
Interestingly, Robert E Lee himself was against erecting monuments honouring civil war generals. One such quote - “As regards the erection of such a monument as is contemplated, my conviction is, that however grateful it would be to the feelings of the south, the attempt would have the effect of continuing, if not adding to, the difficulties under which the Southern people labour.” Another - "I think it wiser not to keep open the sores of war but to follow the examples of those nations who endeavored to obliterate the marks of civil strife, to commit to oblivion the feeling engendered. His biographer also wrote - “Lee feared that these reminders of the past would preserve fierce passions for the future,”
Seems that Lee himself was spot on.
D’oh.
Can we pull Gandhi statues down for his views of Africans?
Any statues of homophobes out there?
What’s all the fuss about? Decent enough midfielder in his day, but I doubt anyone outside Newcastle remembers him that fondly anymore. Hardly deserving of a statue in the first place imo.
I do remember the Geordies calling him handy Gandhi.
